This is interesting idea. I hope you are planning to continue this as I'm very interested how it would go.

Author's Response: Hey there!

Thank you so much for your comment! I do plan to continue this story, however, I should warn you that I'm notoriously slow with updating novels.

Review #2, by Felpata Lupin Prologue: A New Dark Lord

14th April 2017:
Hi, Kaitlin, love! Here to free Sam from jail #CTF :P

This was interesting (a tiny bit scary too, actually) I never thought about what might happen if both Harry and Voldemort died... but I think that having Bella take chargeur would make complete sense.

Your characterization of her was just perfect, I loved her confidence and her ruthlessness. I also loved that she had a moment when she felt lost after her Master's death, you could tell that she truly cared for him, it made her feel a bit more human, you know? (By the way, I'm always so impressed when people can write Bellatrix so well, I can't get into her head at all, it's too scary for me...)

I really didn't expect her to kill Lucius, on the other hand I could totally see it going that way. I felt so horrible for Narcissa, I would've thought she would listen to her sister's pleads, at least...

As always, your writing was lovely, you had such great descriptions and everything flowed so easily. I loved the Dark atmosphere, the way you wrote the action, the dialogue, everything. Also it was so intriguing and it really leaves the reader wanting to know what happens next.

Okay, I really have to go and work now... great job as always!

Love you,

Review #3, by Dojh167 Prologue: A New Dark Lord

Hufflepuff CtF Review

It’s funny - with mothe authors I’d rather start a oneshot over a just begun WIP,but with you it’s almost the opposite, because I want to help encourage you to work on your WIPs! (Yes Chef and Determination, by the way….)

I also love Bellatrix, so I’m excited to see what you do with her in this alternate universe =)

Oh wow, what an incredibly bold AU way to start a story, with the bodies of Harry and Voldemort in the first paragraph! It’s also super effective in right away telling the reader when this story is set and what is different from the canon universe. I love it and my attention is super hooked!

I also like that right away you poke at the complexity in Bellatrix’s position. She believed Voldemort was invincible, and that’s what made her feel invincible. Without that certainty, how will she be different in this story?

I like the contrast of the reverence paid to Voldemort’s body and the distinct lack thereof to Harry’s.

It’s really too bad. Harry really believed that his death would be worth it if it brought down Voldemort, but even that wasn’t enough. It’s interesting how Bellatrix twists the situation into a mirror of that, making Voldemort’s death a sacrifice to achieve the larger end of Harry’s death.

Lucius Snark Malfoy, already a thorn in Bellatrix’s side.

Woah for a second there I thought Harry was going to come back to lead a new resistance against Bellatrix but nope, he gets to die twice tonight.

Lucius Snark Malfoy, no longer a thorn in Bellatrix’s side. XD

So much for family. I am really curious where this will but Narcissa.

Wheee I’m really interested in thi. I didn’t expect it to focus on Bellatrix’s perspective, and I really like that it does (and hope that future chapters do as well). We get a big exciting war story plus Bellatrix is the main character. I love!

Yes, I will definitely be nagging you for more of this ;)

Review #4, by Dirigible_Plums Prologue: A New Dark Lord

22nd June 2016:
*Adele's voice*

Hello, it's me. I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet to go over everything...

But seriously, I am unbelievably sorry for the huge delay, this review is well overdue and I really regret not coming here earlier since this is such a promising start to a novel!

You're right when you say that the whole 'What if Voldemort won the war?' trope is quite common whereas I have yet to read a fic where Bellatrix took charge after both Harry and Voldemort died. It makes sense that the Death Eaters didn't just back down - I mean, these were the most evil people England had seen for decades. They didn't get the reputation without reason.

You wrote Bellatrix brilliantly here. The arrogance in her thoughts about how she exceeds everyone else (I mean... she does, but she's not exactly the most modest of witches) and the almost loving tone to her voice when she promises to make Voldemort proud. Of course, it's a much more brutal emotion than that, something that is seen straight away in the way her initial reaction is much more furious than her fellow Death Eater's.

She's just so brutal and unpredictable. Like with Lucius, for example. I knew that she wanted to set an example, but I expected her to use the Cruciatus Curse on him instead. When she murdered him, I genuinely gasped. As far as he had fallen, he was still a Malfoy and I assumed that would mean he was necessary, but... wow.

My heart broke when she killed Harry again. I mean, I love Harry more than anything, and the fact that she killed him with such force he was thrown back into a tree? I actually had to pause for a moment to digest it all. It was awful :(

This was a brilliant entry to read and an interesting turn of events too. I'm really curious as to how everything will turn out. Thank you for entering the AU Challenge!

Plums xo

7th April 2016:
Hello Kaitlin!

Thanks for swapping with me today, it's been great motivation for me to study :)

I'm really excited to be reading this. I've been really interested to read an AU like this lately, but haven't been able to find one I really like yet. I think this is shaping up to be the mystical one!

I really like how you've characterized Bellatrix! She is absolutely terrifying. I really didn't expect Bellatrix to kill Lucius like that! It was brutal. Wow. I feel so bad for Narcissa. To watch your own husband get killed by your sister! And then to have that sister threaten your son next!

I'm really excited to know what happens next. I wonder which characters you'll allow to survive. I'm hoping for a few, but I won't name them as I don't want to get my hopes up, haha.

I really can't wait to read more. Adding this to my currently reading list now, and please do let me know when you update!

Review #7, by MargaretLane Prologue: A New Dark Lord

29th March 2016:
This sounds like a really interesting premise. I've seen Voldemort wins stories, but never one in which Bellatrix ruled. In some ways, I think it would be worse than Voldemort, since she is so insane. He was pretty irrational at times, but there were also points, like the Battle of Hogwarts where he was willing to show leniency if he thought it beneficial. I doubt she would have given the Hogwarts staff the opportunity of handing Harry over. Or given Snape a second chance either, for that matter.

You've written "the body of both Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort." Since they don't share a body, I'm assuming it should be "bodies".

There is something cold about the way she ensures Harry is dead, which seems right for Bellatrix.

And *grins* I was thinking she wouldn't compromise and then she orders the decimation of the "blood traitors" at Hogwarts.

Love your characterisation of Lucius. He comes across as something of a contrast to Bellatrix here - far less fanatical. I think his reaction is very much in character and we seem to be seeing the beginning of a power play between him and Bellatrix. My immediate question when I saw that Bellatrix was about to take charge was what part Lucius would play - whether this would be after his defection or if she would have to gain control despite him. I doubt he'll take too kindly to playing second fiddle to her.

OK, her method of ensuring he doesn't challenge her wasn't one I expected, although I guess I should have.

That last comment to Narcissa is really an indication of her brutality - that she would be willing to kill her nephew in order to punish her sister. She clearly has no loyalty to anybody except Voldemort, which was already indicated in canon.

This is a really interesting story so far and I am really looking forward to seeing what happens and finding out if she can be defeated.
