Review #1, by PaulaTheProkaryote An Adventure

20th June 2016:
Hagrid is my favorite. By far my absolute favorite in the entire world. I so desperately want him to be happy after everything that unfairly happened to him. Also you’re the queen of minor characters.

My initial reaction to the ending was “DEAR GOD IS THAT IT, IS SHE DEAD?” so I went back to make sure that wasn’t a one shot. It’s not. Thankfully. HOW COULD YOU END IT THERE?! Come back to this one immediately (imagine that in a polite/non-demanding tone).

She’s so brave and courageous. Part of me thinks that the thick skin from being half-giant made her even more confident and courageous. She's so determined and strong. I really like that she wanted to save Hagrid, but even more so that she was thinking about the mission. The greater good of it all.

Also I totally hate those death eaters. Horrible to her for no reason. I just hate prejudice.

Review #2, by Challenge Cheerleaders An Adventure

20th February 2016:
hey Kaitlin!

i love your attention to minor characters and this one-shot is no exception! i wish there were more madame maxine fics because you're totally right- she's fierce and confident

i thought your characterization of her built on those qualities we see in the canon beauitfully. her determination to complete the mission for dumbledore, and to save hagrid even if not herself, is really stunning.
it makes me so mad when the death eaters are talking about her legs but i'm also glad you wrote that part. one of the things that's so striking about her is her confidence to excel despite the prejudice directed against her. it was realistic to see that prejudice in action, and really just highlights how amazing she is.

you've worked so hard on your challenge goals- i know sometimes it's a struggle to manage it all, so i just want to say thank you for giving us all your incredible stories which feature so much diversity and minor characters and are so thoughtfully written.

hang in there!

Author's Response: Hello my dear Challenge Cheerleader,

I love minor characters! There is so much room to expand their stories and fill in these missing moments. Madame Maxime is a particularly intriguing character because we know she's fierce and capable, but we know little of her story. Obviously, she's trustworthy if Dumbledore is sending her on missions.

I'm glad you felt she stayed cannon compliant. I don't think she's necessarily given up on saving herself, but she does feel that if she saves Hagrid, he'll at least have a better chance than if both of them are caught.

Maxime faces a lot of prejudice due to her heritage. People tend to fear what they don't know, so I feel like she would definitely be prone to hearing comments like that.

Thank you so much for the incredible pep talk! I promise I won't let you down!

Review #3, by Mr Penn An Adventure

20th February 2016:
Hello TreacleTart, this is Penn back again for another review. Once again, really sorry for the humongous amount of delay this took. No excuses.

Madame Maxime and Hagrid on a secret mission for Dumbledore. This has to be a recipe for some fun at the very least.

You did a good job of keeping the tension level in this chapter high but I guess it could just have been done slightly better. Like increase the feeling of dread that the reader feels before the calamity actually strikes. Just a personal observation that you are free to not listen to anyway. :)

Overall, you did a real good job in this first chapter and I would really like to know what happens in the future here.

Sorry once again for the delay.

Author's Response: Hey Penn!

No problem. I understand that RL can often get in the way.

I hope so. This will sort of be a missing moment piece. In cannon, Hagrid and Maxime do actually go on a secret mission for Dumbledore to woo the Giants.

I will go back and look through this and see how I can build a bit more suspense. Thank you for the concrit.

Thank you so much for the review!
