So glad to see this story back online. I really, really liked your original part 3 but I like this one too. Thank you for your explanation, I was wondering what happened to it!

I don't remember the original chapter but it seems to me that you set up the whole "Snape saving Alara" in this new chapter in a way that you did not in the previous one. Plus you explain how Rachel was injured emotionally which is a pretty critical part of the storyline that I did not really appreciate until I read about it.

The gentle unfolding of Snape's "return to humanity" is much more true to life. We always think that someone will "come to their senses" and completely change into a wonderful person in a quick minute. But the reality is that people change in and by degrees, slowly over time with new and different experiences helping them move into a new direction and to become a new human being. Snape's growth is slow and he is willing to make a different choice while actively revisiting his past choices and actions.

I am really excited to see you writing and posting again. I am looking forward to reading the next chapters!

Author's Response: Thanks. It was a tough decision to pull it, I was really worried that I could lose readers over chapters that might not change so much. But I really feel it will be worth it. I'll have more soon.
