Review #1, by TreacleTart feel the fire where she walks

1st December 2015:
Hello again!

Since the chapters aren't that long, I thought I'd pop over and leave you a second review.

Ah. It was as I suspected. Romilda won the contest and now she's started to be have a bit irrationally. At first, I could understand the logic of taking all of the posters down. She doesn't want to seem like an obsessed creep, but then a thought occurred to me. It's not actually all that likely that Harry is going to end up going back to her house, so why would she be worried about it? Her thoughts about fanfiction also made her seem a little off kilter because how would he know unless she mentioned it. It's not like he's going to be snooping through her computer. Definitely a little bit strange.

That being said, I could definitely feel her excitement at winning. It's nice seeing her get something she's clearly wanted for a very long time. I hope she doesn't blow it.

Good work here. I'm really interested to see what happens once she actually starts talking to him.

Not sure if you've ever seen the movie/read the book Misery, but this has the same sort of feel to it.

Review #2, by TreacleTart in a little while surely you'll be mine

1st December 2015:
Hello Olivia!

Here for our review swap!

I haven't read a whole ton of Muggle AUs, so I don't know how this compares to others in the genre, but I thought the concept of Harry being a famous actor playing a character named Ron Weasley was quite amusing. It paralleled the real story of Harry Potter quite nicely.

I also enjoyed the idea of Romilda Vane being some sort of super fan. In cannon, that's pretty much exactly how she seemed. It was like she was almost obsessed over the idea of Harry. I thought the way you transitioned that into her Muggle character worked really well.

I don't know why, but I feel quite nervous about what's going to happen next. I have a feeling she's either going to win the contest and get really weird with him or lose and then freak out because she lost. I could see her getting sort of stalkery and threatening. We see glimpses of that behaviour in cannon.like when she tries to drug Harry with the chocolates.

As far as technical stuff goes, this chapter moved along nicely. The flow and pace were good. The characterization fit with the cannon representations and I found the scenario to be plausible.

Good work! I'll be back to read the next chapter soon!

Review #3, by Dojh167 feel the fire where she walks

16th November 2015:

I was excited to see that you put chapter two up, and I'm looking forward to seeing future chapters, as I'm sure that the antics between Harry and Romilda will be very interesting.

This review won't be the most in depth, as I read this chapter earlier today on my phone, so it's more of an overview of my thoughts than a play by play.

You do a lot of summing up in this chapter, and I found myself wishing that you could show more than tell. For example, if you had a scene of Romilda finishing up her workday, while thinking and talking about the her plans, it would be a more engaging way to get information across. I thought it would be particularly interesting if as she was talking to her co-worker and editing the things she says (for example, not sharing the fact that she writes fan fiction) she realizes the things that she needs to hide from Harry.

I find the way that you play with character names for the movies very funny, especially the Ron/Minerva ship. I wonder if we will ever meet the actress who plays Minerva.

For some reason it really stuck with me that Romilda took her posters down before she even knew that she had won. As someone who highly values my personal surroundings and posters, that seemed like a big deal. However, it speaks to how confident she was that she would win, which is reflected by the fact that she doesn't seem especially shocked or over-excited with the news - it's more of a continuation of high confidence energy she has been displaying.

You just KNOW that backup CD is going to come into play later.

I'm excited for more!

Hello,I'm here for review tag!

I've never read a muggle AU featuring Harry, and am very interested in your choice of pairing here.

Romilda has a bedroom AND a living room? Good going, lady

I love how you chose to make Harry a movie star in a franchise so similar to HP. And he's playing a character named Ron Weasley? SD It's a very fun way to tie the AU world in and make it feel connected.

omg, Harry Potter wants to meet "The One?" I's so cliche it hurts, but I'm still really entertained!

Oh yay, Parvati's here! And Ernie? I'm glad to see you'll be involving other HP characters and references.

Parvati/Neville is an interesting ship... And somehow it seems to make more sense in a muggle world than a magical one.

It seems strange to me personally that Romilda is already counting so much on this, but I suppose it makes sense, as sh doesn't really feel that she has much positive in her life right now.

I am really curious to read on and see how the two interact and what form his "obsession" will take.

Thanks for the original story!

Ooo yay! I'm excited about an AU with Romilda Vane and Harry! I wonder if she's going to be crazy like I imagine her to be in the books with her spiking of chocolates and the such. It's going to be exciting! That's all I know! :D

:O Harry played Ron?! I wonder who played Harry, and the other characters! Ahh she's like us! We're fans! I hope that she's written fan fiction!

Ahhh! OMG Romilda could be the one!! Ahhh I'm rooting for her to win his heart!

Ahh! Parvati is in it! :D I am so exciting to see how everyone's going to fit in with this story. I am so excited I can barely contain it! This story idea is so original and I've never seen anything like it. I love it already and I haven't even got to the end of the first chapter! I'm totally favouriting this!

Awww I want her to win! I can't wait until the next chapter! I am so excited about what's going to happen! :D This is brilliantly fantastic!

Hi Olivia! Here reviewing for the House Cup!
Okay, I’m so intrigued. WHAT IS HAPPENING?! If the job of a first chapter is to get a reader interested in the story then job done. I have a million and one questions! Are they magic or not? Or is just Harry magic? Is this whole thing an elabourate trick and they’re all really magic? DOES HOGWARTS EVEN EXIST?! Wow, I’m way too emotionally invested in this already. Romilda’s character is so relatable, she’s the fangirl we all have a little bit of inside us. I like that she’s just in a normal job, single and a bit bored of her life. It gives her the perfect reason to send off the application.
I am absolutely dying to find out where this goes. I demand you put your whole life on hold and write the new chapter ASAP.
Also, is there an actual competition to meet Harry IRL? Asking for a friend…
Hufflepuff House Cup 2015.

Review #7, by toomanycurls in a little while surely you'll be mine

5th June 2015:
Hello my dear!

I quite love all the muggle au stories going around. At first I was kind of meh about these stories (as a genre) but they've really grown on me. I particularly enjoy the way you write yours wtih the whole movie star/normal person dynamic. Romilda does seem like your average working girl - too poor to buy a new hair dryer, not able to work a glam job because she didn't go to college, and hoping for a fancier life.

You definitely give a good idea as to who Romilda is and what she's like. I can definitely relate to her morning routine (minus the bus part). Her conversation with Pavarti made me laugh a little. I guess most people do have their romantic life a bit in order by 29 but plenty of people don't. It's nice that she can share her interest in the contest with Pavarti and not go all "deep, dark secret" about it like I would. erm... anyway. It's definitely not a good idea to start off with how much she loves him (save that for their in person meeting).

It'll be interesting to see where this goes from here. Hopefully the two weeks goes by fast (and she wins - though, I assume she does).
