1st September 2014:
Hi there!! Here for the swap. :)

Aww poor Remus. It always breaks my heart reading how poorly he thinks of himself. I hated him telling The Sorting Hat that he was a monster. :(

I felt like your got Remus' voice perfectly. Kind, self-loathing, gentle and lonely. You could really feel just how nervous he was before heading to Hogwarts for the first time. His doubt in himself and uncertainty with being allowed to attend school was written very well.

It was so sad seeing how his father would barely look him in the eye and would avoid any physical contact with him. At least his mother doesn't seem to treat him all too differently. She still treats him as her son, but more importantly, a person.

I absolutely loved the boat ride across the lake. James and Sirius were flawless. Exactly as I would have picuted them behaving! Also when Remus was in bed, "Let's hex his face.", was really funny.

It was nice to see at the end, that Remus *may* start to be beginning to not hate himself as much. We know that he'll never truly stop, but it came across as a lot more self hatred here.

All in all, this was really lovely! I enjoyed this quite a bit. :) Well done and thank you for sharing!

xoxo Meg

Author's Response: Yes, Remus is always a poor baby. I like to think that the self hatred went away a bit while he was at Hogwarts with the Marauders. That somehow their friendship made him feel accepted and he had some good years, until it all went wrong, of course.

Baby Sirius and Baby James are fun to write. Silly little eleven year olds who probably don't have the power or skill to back up their confidence.

My thinking about his father was that he didn't hate his son for being a werewolf, but his reaction toward his lycanthropy was more guilt than anything. It was, after all, because of him that Greyback bit Remus.

Thanks so much for reviewing! The swap was really fun. :)
