Review #1, by maskedmuggle Prompt 2 - Overcoming adversity

10th July 2014:

Ooh, this was such an interesting fic, and I definitely did not expect the story to be like this. I was really curious as to what adversity Bellatrix had to face, and I really liked how you depicted it in this story. Bellatrix is such a difficult character to write because she's so ridiculously insane and completely unrelatable.. but you did a good job of it. You provided me with such a different insight into her life and into her character and with a history of her life that I have never even thought about. I thought your portrayal of Bellatrix's perception of the world was quite believable - especially how she felt superior to everyone else and the way she found salvation at the end with Voldemort. I thought this was a nicely written fic, really different from anything else I've read.

Review #2, by UnluckyStar57 Prompt 2 - Overcoming adversity

9th July 2014:
Once again, you've completely turned a character upside down and delved beneath her "evil" exterior.

Well, I don't want to pretend that I was okay with the things that Bellatrix did to Muggles and butterflies, but seeing her in that way, as a pureblood witch who didn't care for upholding the standards of propriety, I can kind of sympathize. Did you really give me basilisk feels AND Bellatrix feels?!

Her struggle to find someone who appreciates her for what she can do is a struggle that a lot of people go through. In this story, she is not so much a ruthless tyrant as she is a mad, wild genius. Her particular talent lies in pain and torture, and again, while that's not a talent that is particularly acceptable in society, she just wanted to find a niche where she could put her talent to good use.

And Voldemort gave it to her.

Wow. You've really made me think about Bellatrix and her bloodthirstiness in a different light. :D

Review #3, by evil little devil Prompt 2 - Overcoming adversity

9th July 2014:
I love how at the end you paralleled her feelings for Voldemort to religion - to her, he is almost a deity. This was seriously creepy, but in all the right ways. You really tapped into her crazy side so well (almost scarily so!). :P
You really kind of threw away all restriction and went straight into her head. Reading her point of view, you almost convinced me that her reasoning was valid, that of course she should be allowed to torture and maim people!
I think it's really interesting how isolated you wrote her as being. Instead of being the shining star of her family, she was perhaps even more of an outcast than Andromeda - even though she held their beliefs so strongly - too strongly, it seems, even for them.
This was lovely and creepy, just the way I like it! Excellent job!

Review #4, by ohmymerlin Prompt 2 - Overcoming adversity

7th July 2014:
Hello again!

Oh my. Bellatrix is a psychopath! If this wasn't a children friendly website there would be a lot of mature words in this review because I'm SO DISTURBED! (But that's a good thing because it shows the TALENT you have! :D)

Seriously, her sick, sadistic pleasure out of getting tortured and then torturing the Muggles and others, made me feel very creeped out. It worries me slightly that you managed to capture her personality so well! :P

Is there something that you're not telling the rest of us? ;) (If so, PLEASE KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! Haha!)

I really liked this (in a very creeped out and scared sense, of course!) and I liked the reasons that you gave as to why she was so devoted to Voldemort and why she loved him. It was very clever.

So aside from being seriously disturbed, I think you did a great job on this one-shot!

- Kayla :)
