14th April 2015:
This was very well-written. I found it through the forum because I have a major weakness for Snape slash. Of course, it's clear the characters are going to be OOC when you read the pairing, and know it's crack, but I thought they were fairly true to their characters in the beginning. Only then their love was sort of...just there, with no explanation. The way it was written made it seem like a serious story, no matter how hilarious the pairing, as did the ending, so I was more than a little confused."He had several books depicting his unbelievable life and did not could not understand the crushing weight of the truth Severus dealt with daily" was a great sentence. I like how you paired these characters based on their lies. Though it was a little unclear what you were going for: true crack, a romantic comedy or tragicomedy? Or all wrapped up in one? and I expected a more dramatic ending with them being appalled at each other, I think you did a great job.

Author's Response: Aw, thank you!

Well... it was originally intended to be a crack and then the characters just kind of took me on this whirlwind story and even I have no idea what it's meant to be, hahaha! Sometimes characters just decide that they're going to do whatever they want and ignore all the author's wishes :P

Yeah, the love was just ~there~ but the story started about halfway through the school year (off memory) so in my head canon they had had a few months of sexual tension, hehe

Originally I anticipated a stupid ending with them either yelling at each dramatically or getting married and adopting 5 babies but as I said before, the characters just did not listen to me! :P

Anywho, thank you for leaving me a review! :)

I thought that characters weren't very canon, and the story progression wasn't very well spaced out, but over all I liked it. It was an unusual pair, and it was very emotional. 7/10

P.S. Now that I'm a writer I review a lot more.

Author's Response: Yeah, the characters are definitely NOT canon, haha! It's an AU (alternate universe) so don't worry :P I wrote it for a challenge and decided to go a bit crazy with the characters, haha!

Thank you for the review :)

Heya here to review some of your stories! This one really caught my eye because like wow this pairing and this challenge had some brilliant stories too, so I was definitely interested when I saw it!

One of the things I found super unique was how this was set during Hogwarts, during Lockhart's time teaching. I was expecting some pre hogwarts thing but you put a completely different spin on this and it was a great surprise! The beginning was in a way sweet, how after Snape's comment Lockhart had a sad look in his eyes ♥ And from there it developed ♥

But then it was also extremely awkward because Lockhart's a joke lol and then greasy Snape so for them to be in a serious relationship was the funniest thing but the story was sad so it was an interesting balance of what we know, and what you're telling us. I really liked your version.

THE ENDINF OHMYGOD THE ENDING! That was brilliant! What an amazing way to turn and weave it seamlessly into canon! Superb job, had lots of fun reading this. great writing, you're really talented! ♥

Author's Response: Yeah, I know I kept cringing and laughing every time I wrote it and editing it was the worst. I kept trying not to gag but it's just such a ridiculous pairing. I can't believe I actually wrote it, haha!

Haha, I'm glad you liked the ending! I'm a stickler for canon so I wanted to try and make it as accurate as possible! :P

Thanks for the lovely review!

Were you prancing inside my brain when you wrote this? I mean, I love rare pairs, I love slash, and you used the quote to great effect. Ooh, and I love heartache.

Their cat and mouse game at first was incredible and I could see Severus falling for that power play. I was surprised that he was interested in Gilderoy at all but I can skate pass that because THIS IS SO AWESOME.

You wrote the, uh, passionate scenes really well. It was enough to get my cheeks to flush but not so much that I had to go borrow some eye-bleach. Most people just can't talk about the steamy stuff without being too vague or way crossing the line.

I already said this but the quote fit perfectly in the story. I loved the irony it carried with Gilderoy being such a liar himself.

I didn't think I could get worked up over something with Gilderoy in it but I was rolling in the feels when Severus visited him in the hospital wing. their (re)introduction at the end was priceless. I didn't cry but um, I wanted to.

I promise to have the results up soon! I'm sorry I've been so long at this. :-/ Just been busy.

Author's Response: You caught me. I've been in your head for a long time, Rose, and I never plan to leave. MUHAHAHA.

Oh god, when I was writing them I had to keep taking breaks and stop being so weirded out by the thought of Snape and Lockhart being... intimate. :P I'm glad that it wasn't eye-bleach worthy (I was really worried about that, truth be told) and that you think that I've done a good job of it! Obviously being a female I haven't really experienced male on male ... touches ... so I was so worried that I'd write it awfully. I was just going off other way over M fics that I've read before :P

Honestly, when I first read that quote I thought, "How on EARTH am I going to write a story on this?!" but then I got Snockart from teh and I thought it would probably be able to work! :P It was an excellent quote!

Woah, I didn't think anyone would cry in this fic! It's quite a compliment! :P

Ooh, I'm looking forward to see the results! I know there's quite a few great entries so it'll be hard to pick!

Thank you so much for posting the challenge! It was such a great challenge to participate in! :D

Kayla!! I'm here at last to review your challenge entry. Thanks for participating, lovely!

And Merlin's beard. I don't think I've choked or snorted up so much tea in my life as I have when I was reading your piece! Halfway through, I started thinking, how on earth did you come up with such a ship...and then, oh wait, that was me. I gave you this pairing specially. :P :P :P

Anyway, I LOVED THIS. I've been giggling loudly because you know, sexual!Severus is, is, is, well he's both very tragic and hilarious at the same time, if you know what I mean. In fact, that's how I find the whole story: absolutely tragic but hilarious, and this is such a perfect combination for a crack!ship. And Snape and Lockhart getting all loved up with each other; this DEFINITELY gives new meaning to the way they treat each other in CoS; I can't ever again read about Snape's loathing of Lockhart without taking into context your Snockhart fic here.

I absolutely love your characterisation of Snape here, especially in the opening section. The first line already had me in hysterics: Severus Snape loathed each year when he discovered that there was once again, a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor that was not him. This is just SO Snape; he sounds so bitter and yet it's hard not to laugh at him and sympathise with him at the same time. And I love how his general attitude toward his students as he marks their papers is one where he finds himself "losing faith" in them. Hah, typical Snape. I must say that I love how you've written Lockhart as well, his air-headed arrogant self, but bahaha! Lockhart really took charge of the relationship here. The part where he was hanging outside the door, listening to Severus being restless about his lateness was just so, so ridiculously funny alskdjlkmcias And I love that Lockhart is able to bring out that softer, more tender side of Snape. Who ever knew that Severus could be this loving!?!

And the way the fic ended was so sad. :( But it was a very fitting ending, of course. Great work for remembering canon, and for fitting the relationship into the events of CoS. Speaking of CoS, I would have loved it if you'd included a scene from The Dueling Club; I think you would have written this perfectly. :P But it's fine, because your story as it is, is wonderful. I really, really enjoyed reading this, and I think you did a great job writing such a tricky, cracky, absurd pairing, and the characterisations of both Snape and Lockhart are amazing.

Thank you again for participating in my challenge, Kayla! I absolutely loved this piece! ♥

Author's Response: Ahhh, thanks for putting the challenge up! And sorry about the massive delay in response - I'm too lazy! D:

Hahaha I would have NEVER EVER thought I would write a Snockhart but obviously not :p And I was snorting so loudly and laughing so much at myself when I wrote this. It took me ages to write because I couldn't take it seriously ahahaha

Hahahaha I'm glad you liked it! Next time I watch/read Chamber of Secrets I won't be able to look at them the same either ahaha! Sexual!Severus is very... disturbing yet funny, haha!

Haha when I wrote that first line I actually said to myself, "Ooh that's such a Snape line, Kayla!" :p I'm glad that you agree, haha! Ah, I'm so glad that you like the characterisations! I was a bit worried with Lockhart!

Someone mentioned the duelling scene but I completely forgot about it! I'm a bit annoyed at myself but oh well! It's not the end of the world!

Thank you so much for all these wonderful comments, teh, you're such a lovely human being and thanks for posting the challenge! It definitely gave me a new experience!

Review #6, by TheHeirOfSlytherin Loving Liars

For Blackout Bingo.

So, it took me a little while to get through this. Not because it was bad; no, I thought it was very good. But because of who they were in general - I couldn't stop giggling. Like, the 'I'm witnessing a very embarrassing and awkward moment' kind of giggling.

But I enjoyed reading it. The moments between them were so sweet and the ending was so sad. Poor Severus, losing his love because of memory loss and finding out he's as guilty of lying as he is.

Very interesting read.

Author's Response: Hey, Sam! (That took me three times to type, I'm on my phone and I first wrote "Samb", then "Sam'" -.-)

This took me so long to write because I was in the exact same position. I was literally snorting (like a pig) when I was writing this because I was trying to be serious but I couldn't imagine Snape and Lockart like this, hahahahaha!

I'm glad you enjoyed reading it though! Thanks for leaving me a review!

Also, sorry for the long delay in the response! D:
