Hufflepuff- house cup 2015!

Hey there, this is such a well written fic. I love the ongoing narrative while you show us different memories, its really effective as a way of writing and you do it really well!

I love your characterisation of sirius as well, especially since its not even his point of view. You show him as a type of playboy but it fits in with what we already know about him and it works really well. The characterisation of the girl is just as good, the idea that someone would let someone cheat that many times but you explain it so well that you can see where she's coming from!

A great fic! :)

Author's Response: Thank you so much for a wonderful review! I think characterisation was something that I always seemed to struggle with before writing this so I think maybe this helped me what with everyone's replies to it!

Thank you again!

Hufflepuff House Cup 2015!

Okay, this just completely broke my heart! It's so sad, I feel so sorry for her! I kept wondering as I read who was this complete dog that was doing this to her - and then when I found out it was Sirius it was like a splash of cold water to the face. Sirius, though a troublemaker, is a pretty likeable character from the series, so to read about this side of him, to read from the point of view of one of his victims was just heartbreaking.

I think the repetition was brilliant - it really helped to convey the emotions and the need that she feels, and waiting until the end to add Sirius' name was a nice touch!

I can totally understand why she would beat herself up over this and blame herself - especially since she actually caught him cheating and could have said something, but didn't. But, she's not the one to blame, in all honesty - love makes you do some crazy things. And, even though she doesn't THINK she loves him, I think it's pretty evident that she does.

This is the fourth story of yours that I've read tonight, and each one has perfectly demonstrated a different emotion. I think it's safe to say you're a master of the feels!

And, again, your description was brilliant! I LOVED the mask metaphor!

Really well done!

Author's Response: Hello!

One of the things I wanted to do with the story was show Sirius from the POV of one the girls he dated during his time at Hogwarts. Because I'm sure all his friends would have a completely different perspective of him so I wanted to get this side out.

Thank you so much, my lovely! Put a massive smile on my face! *muah*

Review #3, by HeyMrsPotter That's What You Do

31st December 2014:
Hi, Aimee! A belated happy hot seat day (round 2!)

As much as this story made me mad at Sirius, I really liked it!

I really like that you kept your main character pretty much anonymous (I know from the other reviews that it was Marlene McKinnon) It gave a sense of detachment from her that fit well with her detachment from the fact that Sirius was constantly cheating on her.

I loved your use of the italics for the flashbacks, and where you placed them in the story worked really well and didn't interupt the flow. The repetition of 'because that's what you have to do', serving as a constant reminder to herself, that she needs Sirius.

The final paragraph was brilliant, the way you describe Marlene's own thoughts about the mask and the facade she's nealy failing to keep up was just perfect!

Great story, Aimee!

Dee :)

Author's Response: First of all, I am so sorry that I haven't replied to your review sooner! My fault, I kind of just completely forgot about replying and to be fair, I am awful at replying to reviews!

Anyway, moving on... I really wanted to keep the girl anonymous as it helped with the whole 'just another notch on the bedpost' kind of feel to the story. So I'm glad you liked the fact I kept her almost anonymous!

Thank you so much for a lovely review! This was definitely one story that I wasn't entirely 100% on but all the reviews have been lovely!

Review #4, by FredWeasleyIsMyKing That's What You Do

Hey there.

This was a really good one shot! I was really impressed with the way you used second person POV... It worked perfectly for this. I was also really impressed with the characterisation you gave Sirius too. We all know he isn't a perfect guy, but how many girls would love to date him? I think here you must put so many people off him! I feel so sorry for the girl! I don't think you mention who she is but she does have such a tough time. In glad she realises she has kind of made her own bed, but that still doesn't give Sirius the right to treat her like he does.

You handled the flashbacks seamlessly... Something that isn't always done so well so kudos to you. I also love the repetition of "that's what you have to do" it sounds like she's trying to convince herself as much as anyone else.

Anyway, great job!!

Lauren :)
House cup review 2014

Author's Response: Bonjour! :)

I really wanted to write a story in 2nd person so I just came up with this story :) I really hope I haven't put a lot of people off Sirius (I still love him to pieces!) and I know, I feel sorry for her too! And sorry for that, it's supposed to be Marlene McKinnon.

Thank you so much for a lovely review!

Review #5, by patronus_charm That's What You Do

9th July 2014:

This was a really interesting one-shot, and I could definitely relate to Marlene a lot because of course every fangirl wants to get the dream guy they always fantasise over so it was nice to see that she did. But you didnít just make it fluffy though as you showed that Sirius wasnít the most ideal person to date and he could be a not so nice guys. I really liked all your stylistic choices in this story from the second person POV, to the flashbacks and the use of italics as it just gave this story so much more depth and made it a lot more interesting to read.

One thing I would suggest is working on your spacing because at the end of this one-shot there was a massive bit of text with no breaks in it which made it harder to read and concentrate and as you donít want that to happen to your readers I would perhaps suggest making them bigger so itís easier to read. Other than that it was a really good story!

House Cup 2014 Review!

Author's Response: Hello there! :D

Thank you so much! I'm really happy that you enjoyed it so much :) Well, I didn't really wanna make it fluffy, I knew that a lot of people (including me) make Sirius out to be like really romantic deep down but I wanted to show another side of him!

Yeah, I struggled on how I would set out the last bit so I might just go back now and change it to that because it sounds like it would like better that way! Thank you :)

Review #6, by TidalDragon That's What You Do

7th July 2014:

Well this was dark, but a good read. Normally I detest the presence of infidelity in stories, but that primarily because people take far too cavalier an attitude with it or use it as a means to an end. Here, you showed its ugliness.

Your MC also goes down a road that is dark, but we all seem to know at least someone who has walked it don't we? I think it was interesting the words you used to describe your character's journey down that path because they really fed the flawed logic that I think makes the path possible - that there is somehow strength and power in staying committed to the betrayer. Most importantly though, you also did justice to the fact that despite that appearance (at least at first) and self-deception, there are moments - time spent alone - where one cannot hide from themselves and the person they've become.

I think you deserve kudos for confronting this topic in a realistic way. Thanks for sharing!

House Cup 2014 Review

Author's Response: Bonjour TidalDragon,

First off, thank you for a wonderful review! I feel the exact same when it comes to infidelity in stories and it frustrates me when people downplay it because it's a big deal in my opinion!

I definitely wanted to make it clear that although the relationship was destroying her, that she didn't actually love her and that she was staying with him because she felt some sort of power that was associated with staying with Sirius. The whole 'mask' scenario was one the main elements I really wanted to write about if I'm honest, especially the bit describing how her eyes were still hollow even though the rest of her face was fake. Because when you're wearing a mask, the eyes are the only part of the face that is still visible and I wanted to get that across without having to actually write that in the story.

Thank you for reading the story and reviewing!

19th February 2014:
This honestly made me feel so many different things, like one minute I was so upset for her and the next I was about to break my computer I was so angry. That was a rollercoaster. I absolutely loved it though, except I wish she had just slapped him or caused him some sort of physical pain.
Anyway, this was perfect. Just thanks.

Author's Response: Haha:) I wish she had as well! I'm so happy you enjoyed it, it just sort of came to me on a whim and I had to write it :D No, thank you for taking the time to read it!
