Review #1, by 1917farmgirl Nothing's Wrong When Molly Smiles

19th March 2014:
Wow. I never really read song-fics, but this was a very powerful story and I'm glad I found it.

I've always had a soft spot for Percy. All through the books, even when he was being a jerk, I was rooting for him to come back to his family and see that he was acting stupidly. When he finally did, I cheered.

I haven't read much about him after Hogwarts, but I do try to include him in my post Hogwarts fics whenever I can.

To see him as a father was a very touching thing to read. I really think he would be an excellent father. I'm sure he'd still be Percy, a bit fussy, worried about rules, etc, but I also think his time away from his family and on the wrong side of things would have tempered him a bit. I think he'd be just like you portrayed him here - very doting and loving.

Your character of Molly was also so neat. She was a sweet, kind girl and you really showed that with how you wrote this. And I'm amazed you found a song that fit so perfectly! Did you have the song in mind before the story, or did you go looking for a song to fit the story?

The ending was heartbreaking. And leaves me with so many questions. What happened to her? I want to know more!

Thanks for a great story!

Blackout Battle round 3 review 12/20.

Author's Response: Oh my Godric... Farmgirl I promise I didn't forget about you! I have just been so busy- every time I'd look at my screen again, a half written review awaited, I'd finish, Send it, and then the site told me to log in.

I am glad you took a look at this story, song fics are unusual after all... I liked parts of Percy- but I really wanted to avoid his stiffness, so I had to trade it for some fatherly doting. I actually knew the song long before I knew about HPFF actually. It's in the Dakota Fanning movie "Uptown Girls", every time I watch it I cry.. and after I wrote the other song fic Gone the whole story fell into place. I might go back and add more onto the ending, but I'd have to talk to some validators first...
Thank you for reading this, it really does mean a lot to me that people are still looking at what I write for fun.
XOXOXOXO,
LLG

Hi! This is for the blackout bingo, 15/20.

Oh wow. I did not see that coming. She died! What?! That was amazing. I really never thought Molly was going to die. How doe she die? What happened? So many question unanswered. I liked this story though. From the beginning, it was obvious how much Percy loved his daughter and how much it hurt him when she died. And now that Molly can't smile anymore Percy's going to be heart broken. I loved the way we saw Molly grow from Percy's eyes. I think that's what makes the ending more heart breaking, you made us feel what Percy would feel. I haven't read any stories that were solely based Percy and his relationship with his children, especially a sing fix. This was refreshing and emotional, and I'm glad I read it. This was such a great read.

Author's Response: Hi GirlOnFire. Yes, she did die... I was going to go into detail, but my original idea would have required me asking a validator in advance if it was okay to post. I am glad I seem to be the only one with this particular topic, I hope others join me soon! I am glad you liked it :)

Review #3, by nott theodore Nothing's Wrong When Molly Smiles

6th March 2014:
Hello! I'm here reviewing Slytherin stories for the Blackout Bingo!

Aw, I have to admit that while I don't generally read many song fics, I do have a soft spot for Molly II - the first story I wrote was actually about her and so I love reading other people's interpretations. Your summary seemed really interesting and this was a really cute and enjoyable story to read.

The song lyrics worked so well with this story! I think sometimes people rely on them too much but you used them to craft a really sweet story around and I want to say well done for that!

I loved your characterisation of Molly and the idea of seeing her through her father's eyes. There aren't many stories that deal with Percy's relationship with his children and so this was quite original. Molly seems like such a cute little girl, trying her best to make everyone smile and always being so happy. I can imagine Percy being really protective of her, and getting extremely angry if anyone ever makes her upset (I feel sorry for any boyfriends she may have in the future :P)!

The moments that you selected were perfect and they flowed together well with the song lyrics, showing some development in Molly's character and Percy's relationship with his daughter as she's growing up and moving away from him. I think my favourite moment was when she promised to make him proud and he said that she already had! ♥

Great story!

Blackout Bingo 9/15

Author's Response: Sian!

I completely understand the not being thrilled for song fics thing- seeing as I really am not personally. The idea just WOULDN'T LEAVE. And I needed something to write anyhow- so I thought why not give it a shot right? I am glad a summary of mine seemed to attract attention for once...

The lyrics were the inspiration for the scenes in a way- but I tried to not use them as a crutch for the story. I always want to be as original as possible- so I am glad I managed to pull it off without an off Percy Weasley. I am glad it all fit together because the song gives me such mixed emotions. Thanks again!

Review #4, by FredWeasleyIsMyKing Nothing's Wrong When Molly Smiles

2nd March 2014:
Hi there!

Here for the review battle!

Goodness me, please just give me a minute to recover from that ending! I thought this was so lovely and then you just teared it apart at the end. very dramatic so well done to you, even though it was really hard to read!

I loved the moments you picked here, Molly seems so lovely as a child and it's easy to see why everyone loves her so much. We only see snippets but it's clear she's very close to her parents and sisters so that was nice to see.

I would have liked to have known what happened to her in one sense... the story seems to end so abruptly. I guess that is kind of the point though as Molly's life ended too early. I still enjoyed it regardless.

Well done on an awesome oneshot! We totally don't see enough Molly in fanfic!

Lauren :)

Review 9 of 10

Author's Response: I am so glad I tore you apart. It is the sadistic part of the Slytherin me I guess... I was going to put how she died but I held back because I think Percy would have been even more upset because originally I was going to put it as suicide. Then I thought that was wayyy too much... I agree we do not see enough of Molly at all. I am really glad you enjoyed this one-shot... And guuurl! Nine out of 10?!?!! I still need to let that soak in since that was a first...

Review #5, by Rumpelstiltskin Nothing's Wrong When Molly Smiles

26th January 2014:
I'm here for our swap!

I really love the father-daughter stories you have (or at least the two I read). They are very sweet, and they hit close to home, as I lost mine when I was younger.

Percy is amazing in this! I loved every second of Percy and Molly. Oh, but it was so happy/sad, as Molly's getting older, and going to be going off to Hogwarts.

Then, the ending, oh goodness, that made me want to cry! :( That's so sad!

But great job, none-the-less.

-Rumpel

Author's Response: It's always a pleasure Rumpel! I am sorry to hear about your dad...

I am glad you liked the way I made Percy. I figured if he would be soft towards anyone it would be his children. I had to make the ending sad because the song always makes me cry. It is in an amazing movie called "Uptown Girls" Directed by Boaz Yakin. It always makes me so sad even though the song is beautiful. Glad you liked it though!

XOXOXOX,
LLG
