I really like how Narcissa and Lucius developed over the course of the story. I too imagine them to have an arranged marriage. I think you've done a fantastic job showing how the two of them gradually got to know each other and became closer.

The books show just how much they love Draco, and I think it's really beautiful how strong their love for him is, and how this love has radiated out and enabled them to love one another!

Its really nice to see Narcissa making the first move to build a relationship with her Husband. I think you've really captured the Black in her.

Wow. This was also super interesting! I read this right after reading Sacrifice, and I enjoyed it just as much.

I loved the way you explored Narcissa and Lucius's relationship, which I'll get to in a minute, but I also just wanted to touch on your exploration of Pureblood society in general. It definitely falls largely in line with how I perceive it, too, but your use of concrete examples was excellent in drawing a real, vivid picture. I was particularly struck by Narcissa and Lucius never having met each other before they actually married each other (!) and Narcissa assuming that violence was common in Pureblood families. It implied some pretty ugly things about her own childhood as well as the overarching societal context.

In terms of their relationship, specifically:

I really loved how you handled it. I think it's absolutely plausible that Narcissa and Lucius did not start their marriage loving each other, but it seemed to me in the books that by the time they appeared, they very much did, and that they would do anything for their son. That, in some ways, defined them even more than their loyalty to Voldemort - after all, when push came to shove, they made a clear choice, and Voldemort did not come out on top. This definitely foreshadowed that a bit as well, which I really appreciated.

Excellent job.

House Cup 2014 Review - Ravenclaw

Author's Response: I always think that Pureblood families were very outdated (as many wizards were back then) and although women were equal in terms of magic, I always feel like aristocratic Purebloods like the Blacks were very violent towards women.

I'm so glad you liked their relationship! I tried to make it as authentic as I could because in the books it's very clear that they care a lot about each other and I'm glad that you thought I managed to pull that off!

Thank you for this review! ♥

Hey there! Thank you so much for entering the Uncomfortable Challenge!

Aw, this was a really nice, sweet story! It was so easy and light to read - I really enjoyed it!

I've always found Lucius and Narcissa to be an interesting couple, but have never really read a lot about them - I think you did an excellent job with the prompt, giving us insight into their relationship. I loved the little details you included like the space in the bed and the one fact per meal.

The thing I loved most of all about this piece was how they came together after Draco was born. My only criticism is that I want to read more! This was a great read!

Author's Response: Hello! I'm so sorry about the delay in this response! D:

I'm glad you liked it! I wrote so many versions (with only one paragraph) and kept deleting them all because it just wasn't working but thankfully I found one that did! :p

Haha, when I read the 'my only criticism' I thought, "Hmm... I think it's going to be about the characterisations as I was still a bit iffy about it" but then I continued to read more and laughed, haha! Sorry but I don't think there's going to be any more! ;)

Thanks for posting such an excellent challenge! I really loved doing it!

Review #4, by 800 words of heaven I.

10th February 2014:

I have a bit of a soft spot for Lucius and Narcissa. I like to believe that they had a quiet sort of love, because why else would Lucius choose his family over the fear of Voldemort when it really counted if he didn't love them?

I liked how it was Draco that brought them together in the end. Babies can change a lot of things in just nine months and I think it makes sense that Narcissa grows to love her husband because he gives her the one person she loves in the world more than anyone else.

This was very adorable and very enjoyable! Awesome job :)

Author's Response: Hello!

Yeah, I also have a bit of a soft spot for them, too! They're just extremely interesting characters, in my opinion!

I've never had a baby, but I have noticed a lot of couples do get closer when they have kids so I thought I'd write it that way. :p

Thanks for the lovely review! ♥

First review!
I'm here from review tag :) What a nice story! I love this idea of what Lucius and Narcissa's marriage might have been like. And I really like the little things you added like the space between them when they slept and the extra room on the edge of the bed once they came together.

Such a sweet ending!

Author's Response: Woo! First review!!

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! I'm glad you liked it! :D
