Cats + fan fiction = ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Iím so excited to read this Emily I almost canít start reading because Iím so excited :D

Hermione was just so perfect! You wrote her as a mother really well and the way she had to think over everything before agreeing to it made me laugh a lot because it was so her. I would have thought as a fellow cat fan she would agree straight away, but I suppose the thing which counts is that she did it in the end.

Rose was just so cute. ♥ The way she wanted to make sure that Hugo wasnít alone when she was at Hogwarts was so adorable and it was really nice to see a pair of siblings get along for once instead of arguing all of the time. Then the way she saved up her pocket money too. I donít really have words, but itís so cute. ♥

I loved how they carried on the strange name tradition with Beetlebob, but I hope this doesnít mean that Crookshanks died or something as that would be horrible!

I love how the shop assistant asked about Hugoís personality so to find the perfect cat, it sounds like such a great idea and I hope if ever get a new cat they do that for me too. Ooh, a Kneazle? I suppose that Crookshanksí spirit can live on through that, and the name is so awesome! Fluffernutter! It describes Kneazles perfectly!

Ermehgawd, the ending was so cute, with the kitten and how Hermione probably pushed the cage to the front and how happy Hugo was with it. I just wanted to squish all of them for the cuteness of it all and I loved it. This one-shot was just so cute and fluffy and fab! ♡

Author's Response: Hello Kiana! Yay, I'm so glad you're excited, I think the premise will be popular with cat lovers, hehe.

Ooh yay, I'm so glad you think so! It's always so intimidating to write canon characters, even if this is years later, so I'm super glad you thought I characterised her well. :D Haha yeah, she overthinks a lot doesn't she? And my parents would definitely be a lot harder to convince than Hermone, so I guess the cat lover in her came out there. ;)

Aw haha, I'm so happy you liked her. My siblings and I fight, sure, but we get along really well most of the time and I find it really sad that a lot of the siblings I see in FF don't get along too well. I'm glad you liked the relationship between them, and that you think Rose was cute. √ʬô¬•

Bahaha yeah, I just thought Beetlebob sounds fun, so there you go. And I won't comment on Crookshanks, but all cats have to die, right? But yeah, I won't say anymore on fear of being killed. :P

Hahaha yeah, that seemed like a good idea, especially because the Wizarding World pets seemto have more personality than our Muggle pets. ;) And yep, a Kneazle like Crookshanks, I think hermione liked that notion. Hahaha, I'm so glad you liked Fluffernutter's name!

Yay, I'm so happy you found it cute! I was just hoping it wasn't too obnoxious. Parents are very tricky that way, hahaha, and Hugo was ecstatic. I'm so glad you enjoyed this silly little oneshot!

Thanks so much for the wonderful review, Kiana! :D

omgomg the kitten on the banner so cute

But actually, I'm here to review your story, not talk about cats

I really loved the scene with the young Weasley kids building the snowman together :D You write them and Ron and Hermione so well, and I love reading about Rose and Hugo as little kids! (Aw, the poor plant though :( I can hear you laughing at me right now for saying that.)

I loved Rose's description of Hugo! It sounded exactly like the description a child would give i.e. one that gets off track really easily. Like when she started talking about the birdbath. She seemed exactly like a ten year old would, so great job!

Ron broke the toaster hahaha. Sounds like something he would do. Especially the part where he didn't try to fix it past "reparo", and instead went to listen to Quidditch and asked Hermione to fix the toaster :D

Hugo waking everyone up at half six on Christmas seemed quite realistic too :p Awww the ending sooo cute! I love the way you write the family, they are so sweet. And the cat aww! Seriously, I don't think its possible to dislike anything about this story, how can you not like a story about kittens?! This was the cutest, fluffiest Christmasy-est story ever and I loved it! :D

Author's Response: Hehehe kittens are adorable. That one was originally stuck in a sink, I just erased the sink. :P

Yay, I'm so glad you liked it! Snowmen are fun to build, and I'm so happy you think I got Ron and Hermione right! It's so intimidating to write canon characters, even as older parents, so I'm so glad you think I got them right. :) And bahaha I was laugning at you for the plant comment, but it was just a little laugh, don't worry. :P I should have expected it fronm you.

Ah, I'm so glad you do! I edited that thing so much, trying to get it to sound childlike, and I'm glad I got that right. :D

Bahaha yes he did. He's about as adept with a toaster as he is with a telephone, and he depends on Hermione for most things. :P

Hahaha yes, I remember being woken up by my brother on Christmas Day, so that's where that came from. Yay, I'm so glad you liked the ending! And that you find them sweet, I was worried that the fluffiness would be over-the-top. ;) Kittens are so cute. Hahaha yay, you can't dislike my story. IT HAS KITTENS IN IT. I'm so glad you enjoyed reading this and that you liked it!

Thanks so much for this amazing review Kristin, it made my morning. :D

Review Swap!

Awe, this story was so adorable!

I don't think I've ever read a story that featured Rose and Hugo this young, and I kind of loved it. It was very cute fluffy piece, and I think that Rose's desire to get something for Hugo so that he'd remember her and have the cat he always wanted was so sweet and so... just perfect.

I really enjoyed your characterization of Hermione and Ron in this story as well. I think you did a really good job of keeping both of them similar to how we saw them in the books, yet in older-parent form. It was nice to read about them with kids. And Ron breaking the toaster? That was just brilliant. I laughed out loud there.

All in all, I think this was an adorable one-shot and a very cute Christmas gift!

xoxo LL

Author's Response: Hey Sarah! :)

Ah, I'm glad you think so!

I've discovered that I actually quite like writing little kids, hehe. I'm not sure whether I'll do it again, but this was really fun! I'm glad you liked Rose in this story, and her desire to get a gift for Hugo. :)

Ah, thank you! I find writing canon characters (especially the Golden Trio) really intimidating, because JK has set the groundwork so perfectly. I'm so happy you think I captured them well! Haha, Ron is about as adept with a toaster as he is with a telephone. :P

Yay, I'm glad you found this silly little story adorable.

Thanks so much for the review swap, it was fun! :D

Review #4, by justonemorefic Buying a Kitten

11th January 2014:
I'M EXCITED. I saw your PM earlier in the day, but I wanted to wait until I left school to read it.

I remember seeing the preview posted in the thread, and I cackled and knew I was going to love it. I would heartily commend flower pot craft. Sacrifices need to be made in the name of art; for great art, it's necessary. Hugo's just wise for his age.

I'm imagining this train of very uninterested children at Hermione's shopping trips, being dragged from store to store with an ever-growing pile of bags (because buy in bulk and save money!). Poor Rose getting Apparition-sick; I wonder if she likes the floo any better.

CAT! :3 Hugie, that is an adorable nickname. At this point, I'm feeling like Hugo's a bit of a family pet, too. Knowing cats, I'm going to bet that cat will own Hugo rather than the other way around. Heee, I love Rose's independent research: She had spent an entire afternoon breathing steadily underneath the Christmas tree to gauge whether a kitten would be able to survive a night underneath all the baubles and branches. That is some forward thinking. I bet it's quite scratchy under there too, that's solid commitment.

every single animal had made it their personal mission to make as much noise as they possibly could - They're all saying I love you, pick me pleeeaaase.

Ooh a Kneazle! Of course Hermione would approve. I read too fast and I thought that Fluffernutter was some sort of wizard candy bar and then I thought Hermione was going to feed it to Ron, oh dear. But I sorted it out. And of course Ron can't use a toaster, I don't think I've found a single wizard who can.

Hugo is me when I want something. Rose, Rose, Rose, hurry my present is suffocating under the tree xD Oh, I bet Hermione was sneaky with the presents; parents would so do that. I wish I could remember more of my childhood to remember all the times my mom must have done this. And dawww the ending was absolutely fluffy with Fluffie! I'm totally jealous of Hugo *___*

♥ thank youuu ^__^ I absolutely love it. I loved the cute bits of Ron/Hermione and Rose's eagerness the most, and it was lots of fun getting to the end to see Hugo's final reaction!

Author's Response: AHH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS LOVELY REVIEW! I've been sitting on it for two days because I have no clue what to say. :P

Hehe yeah, the preview was one of the first bits I set in stone. Flowerpot craft is very fun, even though I've only done it once. One of the reasons I gave art up was because of all the sacrifices I had to make. :P

Bahaha, that was based on my aunt's shopping trips. She walks very fast and very quickly and is extremely fussy over her food. :P Your imagination is spot on, I can completely imagine that! And yeah, I don't think Rose is a huge fan of Wizarding travel methods in general. :P

YAY! Hehe. xD Hugo is the youngest and most coddled. And haha, I'd say your prediction is a good one, pets always seem to eventually dominate their owners rather than the other way around! Rose's independent research is one of the things that made me giggle like a loony while writing this, I'm glad you liked it! She was very determined, and when she's determined she doesn't give up easily.

Daww, now you're making me feel bad that Rose didn't pick every animal in the shop, which is kind of ridiculous, but it would have been cute! Rose the Walking Petshop.

Yep, Hermione was the first to agree. And wow, that would have been a pretty crazy story! Glad you got it all sorted out, heehee. And Ron is about as adept with a toaster as he is with a telephone.

Bahaha yeah, I think Hugo is everybody when they want something. Parents are definitely the type to do that! I remember mine did, on the years that we weren't just having a free-for-all under the tree, that is. :P And yay, you found it fluffy! I was hoping it would be fluffy and not obnoxious. ;) Hehe, be jealous. Be very jealous.

I'm so glad you like it! Ron/Hermione is a lovely ship, one of my favourites, and I'm so happy you liked Rose, and Hugo's reaction. :D Thank you so much for this mega review!

Review #5, by nott theodore Buying a Kitten

10th January 2014:
Hi Emily! I saw you post that this story had just been validated and came over to snag the first review (unless someone posts before me)!

Aw, this was such a cute little one-shot, I really loved it! The beginning made me laugh, and I think you captured Ron and Hermione as they would be as parents really well. I always imagine Hermione as the stricter parent, laying down the rules while Ron's the one who's more relaxed and probably spoils the kids in secret, without telling Hermione. The description of the snowman (creature?) that they made was really cute, and I loved their decision to empty Hermione's plant out so they could use the pot. It's definitely the sort of logic that a kid would use!

Aww! I genuinely can't describe how warm and fuzzy you made me feel when I read about Rose wanting to get Hugo a kitten so that he wouldn't be lonely when she started at Hogwarts! It was such a cute idea, not just wanting a kitten because they want to play with it like most young children do - the thought and compassion behind it was so sweet and touching and I'd have hated Hermione a little bit if she'd said no! I'm glad that they were able to get the perfect kitten for Hugo!

Haha, I remember being woken up by my brother on Christmas day as well, so that part definitely rings true. I was surprised that Rose didn't want to get up when Hugo told her it was Christmas Day, because I know I did at that age, but the fact that he was so insistent he hit her with a pillow made me laugh. You wrote the relationship between the two siblings really well.

Hugo was so happy and adorable when he found his present was a kitten! His reaction seemed realistic, especially him not really knowing what to say to thank his sister. The name you chose was really cute and appropriate for the story, too, because it fit with the whole warm, fluffy, Christmassy feeling that was there all the way through.

This was really cute and a lovely read!

Sian :)

Author's Response: Sian! Thank you so much for this! You did get the first review, hehe. :D

I'm so glad you liked it! The main canon characters are always the hardest for me to write, so I'm glad you think I captured them well! I actually think that would be quite a common interpretation of them as adults, it's definitely what I though of first! ;) Haha, that snowman is based off the picture of a snowman I made when I was a kid, flowerpot and all. :P Kids are so lovely to write!

Ah, I'm so happy you liked it! Rose and Hugo definitely share a really close relationship in my headcanon, and I'm glad that showed. And oh no, please don't hate Hermione, I'm glad I got it right so you don't hate her, ahaha. :P Is it odd that I'm happy about it as well?

Haha, me too, but maybe's it's because my family is so lazy that the 'let me sleep more' is basically a reflex thing, even on Christmas. Hehe, Hugo is very determined, haha. I'm glad you think I wrote their relationship well!

Hehe, I didn't really know what to write there, it seemed weird that he'd speak at that time, so I just made him speechless. xD I'm glad that seemed realistic! I actually researched cat names to find the fluffiest one I could and I'm glad that it fit with the atmosphere of the story!

I'm so glad you thought so! Thank you so much for this lovely review Sian, it made my day! :D
