Review #1, by someone___1 Reflection

4th April 2013:
This was so sweet, and fluffy! You're a really good writer. I hate to harass you, but you need to write more stories! I loved how you tied everything in Ron's life to his gift of loyalty. It all made sense, and I could almost see this story being in some magical sequel J.K. Rowling would write. Seriously, fantastic job!

Author's Response: Thank you! I did have 21 stories posted on the archive at one time, but deleted them in a fit of "grad school, teaching, parenting, and staffing here are killing me!" Of course, I deeply regret it now. I am slowly reposting the stories after some tweaks and edits. I am glad you enjoyed this one. It's one of my favorites, where Ron gets some well-deserved idol worship. I appreciate the review!~GW

This is even better the 2nd time around. It's nice to see a story story depicting Hugo as something more than a blockhead, pervert, or a helpless victim. I also like that you don't depict him as, well...the actor they used at the end of the DH2 movie. I love the depth of the characters as they play chess, Hugo's insecurities, the very mirror of his father. It's just perfect.

Author's Response: Thank you! So nice to know you're still hanging around and willing to read my edits of an old story. I do love Ron, and always wanted him to get a little hero worship of his own. I imagine with Arthur as a role model, he'd be a pretty good dad, even though he thinks he's not as good as Hermione at solving his children's problems. Hugo is a chip of the old block here, which I also love. Who better to understand his insecurities than Ron Weaasley, third wheel extraordinaire? I appreciate your review so much! Thanks BK!~GW

Yay! You're writing again, or at least re-writing. I'm so happy for you!! I really hope you find your joy for it again.

I didn't read the first version of this, but this version was absolutely adorable. There is something about Ron as a father that fills me with all sorts of fluffy feelings. I loved his uncertainly -- afraid he wouldn't do or say the right thing to Hugo, or that Hermione would handle it better. But just being honest with his son was the perfect parenting win!

And doing it all over a chess game? So sweet. I love that it's a game the two can share together, and the way Hugo sees his dad as a hero is heart-melting.

Lovely, lovely one-shot, my dear. I hope this is the first of many new or re-posts for you.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. Now that I've got myself straightened out, I have the urge to get something written. I just don't have the time to devote to new ideas quite yet. This was one of my favorites, posted back in 2008. It had some awkward areas I wanted to correct, so I thought it was a starting place.
I always wanted to see Ron get some of the hero worship he deserved, and his son seemed like the perfect solution. While he still has his insecurities, I thought it would be refreshing to see Ron finally secure in who he is. He's not the Chosen One, but he is important. Thank you so much for reviewing!~GW

So glad you're trying to write again! Even if it is to rework an old one. I found one typo near the beginning. The paragraph that has Hugo reaching for the chess board reads as 'eaching'.

Such a great story & lesson. Some of us aren't meant for greatness but are meant to be there for the ones who are. Thanks for the reminder!!

Happy Writing (when you have time)! -Lauraf68

Author's Response: Thank you! Fixed that typo! This was the third one shot I ever posted, and one of my favorites. I loved the idea of Ron as a dad, being someone's hero. I'm so glad you liked it. Ron was the glue that held the trio together, as we saw when he left. He wasn't the Chosen One, but he was important. I wanted to show him getting some adoration, but being secure in himself finally. Glad you liked it! I appreciate your opinion!~GW
