I think your Hermione's growing on me. Either that or she's completely freaking me out. You have to admit, the girl has a temper and knows how to hold a grudge! But I think the plot, has taken an interesting twist and can't wait to see what'll happen. Not gonna lie, Hermione still seems a bit off (though I can't place the problem exactly) but it's not a setback at all. I just absolutely love how you portray Hermione as kind of the bad girl. Not a lot of people do that. I applaud you for doing that. It's like the side we never saw in the books. I really like the way Hermione and Draco bicker. I find it quite funny. Though Hermione might be different from all the other way people portray her, i really think this is a very interesting portrayal and I like this Hermione very much. I wonder how Draco.will get her back. I actually kind of like the way you're portraying Hermione in this--it's rather refreshing and different from most other things out there. Their fighting makes me laugh because it's just like they are at Hogwarts but the insults are more adult-level (if that makes any sense?)! The fact that their hatred for each other is so ridiculously high adds to this story! Me again :) I'm glad you're taking the background into consideration, because I have to admit, I quite like this Hermione, and the only thing that's a setback is how she got this job and why she enjoys it so much. I love her personality though. It's feisty and different from the other Hermiones we know and yet with a bit of imagination she's believable. Her interaction with the other characters (Ron) is a far cry from what it was in the novels, but hey, this is fluff and post-war, so no problem there. Her interaction with Drack, though, is what makes this whole chapter work. Though she may be a bit off, the two of them make it work. No complaints about Draco, keep him the way he is. Hmm... I like it but I don't particularly like your version of Hermione. She sounds too vindictive. I think you should give a back story explaining how and why she's changed (it can be late in the story, I'm not saying you must explain now) or you should explain that she just needs a steppingstone up so she can write about what she really wants. If you don't know how to do the second I suggest watching how to lose a guy in ten days (great movie BTW!) because if that's how you want to play this then Hermione would be in a similar situation. However I am in no way saying you have to do either! I miss TOR too :') I would agree that writing fluffy stuff is out of my comfort zone as well but you are a much better writer than I am. :) I like it so far and it's definitely a different take on Hermione because really--a gossip columnist? Who would've guessed that of all the people it could be, it would be Hermione Granger. The setup is interesting, of course, and it seems like you have something extremely interesting planned. But there's one thing. And please don't take this the wrong way. I understand that this is your first time writing fluff. I would be just as lost writing drama and angst (because there is NO way I can match up to what magic you create with those genres). Your fluff Draco is PERFECT. He is completely believable as the rich, arrogant playboy with a temper. That's actually like our normal fanfic Draco. But Hermione... I understand what you're saying that she could be different in this way. After a while, it could be easy to think of Hermione doing a job similar to this. But I'm (just now) not getting the gossip columnist vibe. I think that's a bit too OOC, and unfortunately it's vital to your (don't get me wrong, AMAZING) plot. Perhaps you could work on background for what happened to change her. Please don't take this the wrong way, I am most definitely interested in this and can't wait for more, it's just... lacking a bit of integrity, for lack of a better way to put it. I know it's extremely hard to keep fluff not too OOC, so I'm not demanding anything :P In fact, it works the way it is, I'm just throwing out suggestions/(hopefully constructive) criticism. DO continue writing this as with your immense talent, you will most definitely improve with time. I'm sorry if I offended you or something because that was NOT my goal. Do know that I would NEVER simply throw something out there to shoot someone down.
