Review #3, by AshesForTrees Honestly woman, you call yourself our mother?

27th January 2013:
This is a lovely piece. I like how you create a bustling everyday kitchen scene- the details like the carrots burning make the reader feel like they're part of the family preparations. I could feel the tension when Molly said that phrase, then the warmth coming back into the room when George responded and broke the tension. Perfect use of the last phrase, just the right amount of humour to make the scene a relaxed one and not over the top. Very enjoyable.

Author's Response: Thank you! You really picked up on everything - which is brilliant - I'm really pleased you like it. Thank you for the specific tips on what worked well - they are very helpful. Also, feel free to read my other story, Deep Waters.

I loved this! It always breaks my heart to think about how George must have felt after Fred's death... I think that was saddest part of all the books. And you're story has given me comfort! I'm so glad he was able to joke about it! :) Thank you ;)

Author's Response: I'm so glad you like it. It gives me comfort, too - that's why I wrote it! You are my first review ever - so thank you very much. If you like this, you might want to read my other story - Deep Waters. It's completely different from this, though!
