Review #1, by A BADGER, THE MYSTERY SANTA. Ravaged

26th December 2013:
Hello again!

I really loved this piece, it was beautiful! The beginning was so sad, and I think it was a realistic description of what Lavender would be like after the war. She'd been such a shallow person before and I think after something like what happened to her in DH she'd need some time to readjust, and kind of reconsider her life. And you did that wonderfully here, how at first she's scared and worried about other people's reactions and kind of hates herself, and by the end she's not as concerned about how outsiders perceive her, not as shallow, and she knows that she can be beautiful again because she thinks she is. I think over the course of the story she realises, among other things, that "beauty" is not just having a pretty face.

Lavender in the books is so one-sided, and her giggling was obnoxious. So I love that you chose to detail her life after the battle and show a completely new side of her that emerges, and her rather hopeless inner thoughts... but by the end of this it was so great to read that she was laughing again - despite all the changes she went through, the giggly Lavender is still there somewhere! ;)

Really great story, I love the depth you gave Lavender in this, and the pairing was extra cute too! Awesome job!

Love,
H.

actually, H stands for Have a wonderful holiday season! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Author's Response: Thanks you so much for this wonderful review!

I've always imagined DH was a harsh awakening for her and she was kind of forced to grow up after the battle. I definitely wanted to show a different side to her, especially since we only get to see her through Harry's eyes in the books. I'm so thrilled you liked it!

Thank you so much for all your reviews, they make my day everytime I read them! You've been such an amazing Secret Santa! :D The chapter image you made is beautiful, I'm so excited to add it to the story! Thanks again!

HO HO HO! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hello there! I am your Hufflepuff Secret Santa! :D

This one-shot is beautiful. I loved the second-person narrative, you did it really well!

I loved the brackets that just explained her progress and I loved the Lavender/Seamus pairing! :D

Overall, I really loved this one-shot, you did a really good job on it!

10/10! :D

Author's Response: Hello Secret Santa! ;)

Thank you so much, this review is a wonderful present! I'm glad you liked the second person narrative, I was nervous to try it but I really enjoyed writing with it!

Thanks again! Merry Christmas to you too (although I'm a little late :P)

This is beautiful. I love how in such a short fic you brought depth to Lavander's character, and I love the Seamus/Lavander pairing. A great read.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I adore this pairing, and I really enjoyed writing them together. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, it means a lot!

Hufflepuff review tag! :D

This was so good! I loved that slowly, she built up her confidence again. I also liked the way you made her cautious and scared of everything. You wrote it really well!

One thing though, you left some of the formatting in there! It's the "div align="center"" code, you might just want to edit that out. ;)

Other than that, it was absolutely amazing!

10/10! :D

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I was worried that I would go either too fast or too slow with her regaining confidence, so I'm glad you thought it was okay!

Thanks for catching that, I must have missed it. I've edited it out now :)

thanks again for taking the time to leave a review!

Hello, I'm here from the hufflepuff review tag! This was amazing! I loved it! I haven't read a lot of stories about Lavender, and I think you wrote her in a really unique way, and I really enjoyed it. You get a different perspective of her from this story, because we only get her bubbly, slightly annoying side from JKR. I think you've made her a lot more mature, and it was really nice to read. I didn't see any grammar mistakes, and the flow of the story was awesome! Wonderful job! 10/10
Cassie :)

Author's Response: YAY PUFFS! :) thank you so much! it was kind of my goal to portray her in a different way through this story, because i really like her character. i feel like she has alot more layers than were shown in the books and that she matured alot during the war. thanks so much for the review!

I really liked this! Are you crazy? Not sure about this one...pft! I've only read one other story about this pairing before but it was a humor fic so I felt like you gave me a different look into them.

What I enjoyed most about this was the way you broke it up into different times. I love the progression. The slight changes as the months went on. No matter what I still knew that they cared for each other, that they would fall in love if they hadn't already.

Wonderful job! I think I have found a new pairing that I'd like to scour the archives for.

Author's Response: thank you so much! i looove writing about minor characters/pairings. thanks for taking the time to leave a review!
