I like how it describes the normalcy of her day in the beginning then goes to "It was about nine o'clock when the first strange thing happened." That's a great setup! I can't imagine how creepy it must be to have a bunch of weirdly dressed people show up and tell you that you're a reincarnation of a mythical person. You describe her reactions very well! I would have probably reacted the same way :D You ended it on an extremely frustrating note. Which is great for you!
