Why on earth is this only a one shot?

I know it's a good place to leave the story, it has told us what it needed to, but just only barely so.

Having Scorpius in Hufflepuff is quite an interesting proposition and I can see where you are coming from. One of the Scorpius character traits that we often see it the one where he needs to atone for his families past mistakes. It makes a good fit for him to be strongly like this and put into Hufflepuff.

Having the Weasley/Potters as the bad guys ... well they are not really. Yes they are bad to Scorpius but we do not know what they are like outside his perception range. They could be great, and things point to them being so, but not to him; they carry still a bit of prejudice.

But really there is just so much scope for more.
What is up with Rose?
Was it a one off?
Was she deliberately hiding and squashing down her true self at the breakfast table?
Will Scorpius persevere?

It would be wonderful to use this as a springboard and expand the story further.

Author's Response: I've put some thought into lengthening this over the past few years, but honestly I've got too much on my plate at the moment to figure it out. It'll probably stay a one-shot unless I suddenly run dry on my other stories. It could be interesting to continue, I just haven't got the time.

I don't consider the Wotters really bad guys. I was thinking more along the lines of how James Potter I was at Hogwarts. Just a bit too cocky and arrogant for their own good. Scorpius just tends to be an enemy of the clan, because of Draco Malfoy of course. I always thought they'd kind of grow up as the darlings of their generation, especially the trio's kids. It could make things interesting at Hogwarts.

To answer one of your questions, I think the pressure gets to Rose. It's something I almost always involve when writing stories around her. We know she's smart, at least Ron seems to think so, and I can see Hermione expecting the best from her children as she expected the best from herself when she was at school.

Thanks so much for reviewing! You definitely brought up some interesting points, though I'm sorry not to be able to continue this story. :)

Review #2, by Lily Alexandra Evans Less Than Friends

Merlin, I feel bad for Malfoy. I never thought about a Malfoy in Hufflepuff. I think it is a really good story.

Author's Response: Thanks! And yeah, I have to admit I never pictured him there either, but the thought of him in Hufflepuff was too much to pass up and it was a challenge after all...

Aww this was sad! I pretty much expected them to get together at the end but it was actually a nice surprise that they didn't. It made this story really unique! I also really liked how you made Scorpius clearly different from his family. I mean, Hufflepuff? His father must have been shocked, but I can actually see it really clearly. If I were the child of a former death eater, I would want to change my family name by being really different, too.

Anyways, I really liked this :) I thought it was sweet and I enjoyed reading it:D

Author's Response: Yes, I wanted it to be very different from the usual ScoRose fics.

You've pretty much hit spot on what I wanted from his character. I was thinking of what character I could write about as a Hufflepuff and then Scorpius just popped into my head and the rest seemed to write itself.

And it was kind of nice to paint the Wotters as the more negative ones for once. I haven't seen a lot of that.

Thank you for reviewing and I'm so glad you liked it!

Hey! I'm here with that review I promised a while ago! Sorry it took so long. :)

I thought this was a very nice one-shot. I like the idea that you've used of Scorpius trying to help Rose, I thought that was cute. It was very well written, and not over done which is great! You've done an amazing job with this story! I really loved it. Great job!! :)

Author's Response: Aw, thanks so much for the lovely review! I'm glad you liked it!

Review #5, by MalfoysCarolinaGirl2010 Less Than Friends

First of all A Malfoy as a Hufflepuff??? What were you thinking? Great story its interesting to see that things aren't roses and daisies between Scorpius and Rose and the fact that they don't really associate with each other is great. I love the fact that Scorpius is a Hufflepuff the complete opposite of what anyone would expect from a Malfoy. But i wonder what was wrong with Rose?

Author's Response: Rose was just stressed, it's not easy being the daughter of Hermione Granger, you know! And yeah, I was wondering about the least likely Hufflepuffs and Scorpius made the list.

Thanks for the sweet review!
