this is really good. i think that you have a good start to developing Daniel as a character and giving out the rest of his story. Do keep in mind though, that you wan to keep it sort of realistic even though it is in a fantasy world. Daniel is still a child and shouldn't seem too "smart".. not really sure how to put that., Lol but overall, great story.
