Hmm, interesting! I'm very, very curious to see what the potion is all about, who the other three pawns are, and what will happen in the coming chapters. I loved Snape's line about the potion -- of course it will work, he made it! So very Snape :) I loved the flashback to his initiation night also. Again, not often explored in my experience, and yet so pivotal. I think you did it justice and got the emotion right. I felt so bad for him, wanting to jump and just end it all.

I think you've done a good job of characterizing Dumbledore and Snape, and the imagery here is good as well. Still a couple of technical mistakes here, but I don't think I saw as many as I did in the last chapter, so well done.

Nice work! I look forward to chapter three :)

I left so many avenues unexplored with the series having ended, I think I found a way to go with this one. I do hope you continue to read once more is posted! Thanks again!!

What a great concept for a story! I've never understood it, but I often find that fanfiction focuses more on making up plotlines than examining important moments from canon, and I always appreciate finding a story like this one that does the latter. I love your characterization of Severus, and seeing as this was written before the conclusion of the series, I offer you an e-high five for believing in Good Snape along with me! :) I think he would have felt very alone and felt a certain degree of self-loathing for what he did, and you really conveyed that well at the beginning of this chapter. I also really liked the way you described him leaving everything he held as comforting and familiar behind; I could tangibly sense his loss as he forced himself to start anew.

You've created a really intriguing beginning here, and I'll probably go on and read the next chapter when I get a chance. I noticed a few spelling and grammar issues, but nothing huge, so I would just suggest proofreading one more time or maybe running it by someone before posting in the future. It does flow very well, and as I mentioned, the plot is of great interest to me. I should also note that the imagery you used was really pleasing to me as well.

I did notice one typo "I understand, Headmaster," Severus stated thru gritted teeth. You have thru instead of through. Just thought I'd be helpful and point that out :D
