Review #1, by Debra20 She Smelt Of Lavender

7th August 2011:
Wow. I never expected to enjoy this story as much as I did. I never thought a Snape/Lily story could be written in such a creative and saddening way.

The characters were so true to their characterization in the books that the whole piece was a delight to read. You captured Snape's essence so well: his increasing love and need for Lily, his hate for James, his heavy heart when he visited their grave. It was a truly evoking experience reading your story.

The flower scent touch was a stroke of brilliance. You played by one of his best abilities: the ability to smell. Because being a potions master I imagine you had to have a pretty sensible smell. It really felt like something intimate that only he had shared with Lily. Despite marrying James, Snape knew that it was only himself that could smell her flower perfumes. I loved how diverse they were and how they changed with every passing period of her life, morphing from fruits to the innocent lavender, continuing with the mature, seductive and fully blossomed rose and ending with the tender lilies. And the last scene was almost heart wrenching. How she would always smell of lavender to him, even in death...
I will definitely add this story as a favourite!
