2nd January 2018:
This was my third time reading BIR, and let me tell you, it does not disappoint! I can't believe I haven't written a review for this before because honestly, this is one of my absolute favorites on this site. I have it in my reading list, so when I'm bored, I always have this amazing story of Albus and June to entertain me!

Your writing in itself is a work of art. The style, the dialogue, the word flow, vocabulary, do I even need to go on? All PHENOMENAL.

Now the biggest thing to me about a story is the characters. If I don't like the character, than I don't like the story, but this story changed that! I despised June at the beginning, she was an airhead, naive, irritating, and dimwitted, but I didn't leave bc I had a feeling you wrote her like that on purpose and your Albus Potter is so intriguing! I've never seen anyone else write him the way you did, and for some reason it just worked! The character development in EVERYONE! Not just June and Albus (though it's most prominent there) but all the hufflepuffs!Priscilla allows herself to love someone, Trista faces that life is the way it is with quidditch, her family and Duncan, and even Henry gets over his crush on June. It it, to say THE LEAST, mindblowing.

The plot itself makes me want to get your autograph. You made it flow so perfectly, avoiding all cliches, keeping it realistic, keeping us all on the edge of our seats in anticipation, and making us smile, laugh, and cry as we experienced June's transformation and road to happiness in a way little author's can claim. Never once did my attention slip. The dynamic you've created between June and Albus is SO cute, and I ship Junebus with everything that I have! I adore all your works tbh, but this and Hunter's Moon have got to be my tops! Ilysm, never stop writing you, freakishly talented woman, you :)

Review #4, by rainy_days Bathing in Roses

5th November 2016:
This. This is a truly amazing story you've decided to write and tell to us. It was one of growing up and was written realistically and I totally appreciate that.

On June: She was at first a bit annoying. In my head I couldn't imagine her as anything except "glum" and "dull." It was how you described her in the first few chapters and it stuck with me. Often at times her decisions made me cringe but she she found that reality isn't all "bathing in roses." She grew up into a strong character, one I couldn't have possibly seen in the beginning. I admired the way that she was able to turn away Albus, even though it seemed like her chance to make a move. I also admire her perseverance; how she keeps on looking for ways to make money and how she continued to try her hardest to turn her life around.

On Albus: In the words of June, "What. A. Git." I truly thought of him as this at first. I may not have really liked June in the beginnings of this story, but I sympathized with her highly when Albus kept on making her life hard for her. I hated how he insulted and continually patronized her. As the story went on, I understood why he did what he did but it doesn't make what he did right. He could've handled it better, but what story would there have been if he did? None at all. But Albus did come around eventually, and I saw that he had a heart and could be a sweetheart and a dork.

What you did really well is the conflict of this story. It was June's fault that she decided to like someone without getting to know them and acting on it and it was Albus' fault for thinking that June was another one of his rabid fangirls and once again acting on this sole assumption (which he was correct at one time but she changed, so he's wrong now).

When I say it was a pleasure to read, I really mean it. I'm definitely adding it to my collection of "to read again." Thank you for creating such a wonderful novel.

This chapter always makes me cry. The end, when she's out in the snow... there are tears running down my cheeks. Already a favorite, but I'm rereading.

Author's Response: You are so sweet! Thank you, I adore your review and thank you so much for reading!

Review #6, by jamessiriuspotterforever Deus Ex Priscilla

2nd January 2016:
This was so cute. I absolutely love Priscilla and her wit. Its like inspirational in a way. Didn't think that a girl could hate romance with such a bleeding passion. Anyway, Priscilla and June are obviously opposites but I find them a whole lot closer than June is with the other girls.
Oh how much I need a Priscilla in my life who lectures me about being prim and proper and how utterly rubbish romance actually is.
Favourite part?
“But just imagine, every time I want to visit June, I’ll have to see his stupid face and pretend to be civil. I’ll be saying, “Happy Christmas, dearest Albus,” while thinking, “Can I stab your heart with spoons?” And they’ll be dirty spoons.” Her voice grew hushed. “Unwashed!”

“Clearly the highest form of revenge ever,” said Trista, her voice dripping sarcasm.

“But obviously, June’ll say, ‘Oh, Albus, let’s have ten thousand children, and name them all Albus after you!”

Lucy let out a reluctant giggle. “Somehow I can imagine June saying that.”

^ just unfreaking believable. You know, for someone who hates the romantics with such a burning passion, she sure does know quite a lot about how it works. Has she been burnt or something?
And lastly, Albus I don't know her Potter. Hate him but then I love him too. Soo so much. After all hes irie naoki sama, isn't he?
Next chapter!

OHMYGOD! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE MISCHIEVOUS KISS? I have watched almost all versions of it, including the anime. My vest friend is going to be sooo happy when I tell her about this. Thankyou thankyou for writing about this.
When I was reading, I couldn't help but wonder how much it resembled itazura Na kiss. Now I know why! Aah!
Now I'm moving on to the next chapter 😂

Review #8, by JC Bathing in Roses

10th December 2015:
You're probably not going to see this (I'm not sure if you've even checked HPFF in a while!) But if you do, I just want to say thanks for writing this. It's silly, fun and an absolute smasher of a story!
And I learned a lot from it. Although I'm 21 years old now, it took reading this story and specifically Priscilla's advise to June to reveal something to me.. when June was made to feel awful by those girls and Priscilla took over to make her feel better, I took it as a life lesson for myself. And it really helps. So thanks, Celeste.
Looking forward to reading your over works, and if you do any more in the future.

Author's Response: Hello JC! I did come on HPFF after quite a long time. Thank you so much for reading and I'm really happy if you felt you learned something from my story or from Priscilla. Thank you again for reading and for your sweet, kind words :)

9th December 2015:
I love that you did that. It was fantastic, as Albus needed a reality check, and June... Needed one too haha

Author's Response: I think we all have a period in our lives where we desperately need a reality check. Theirs just happen to coincide! Lessons are best taught in tandem -- two birds, one stone, I think.

Thanks for reading!

26th August 2015:
this is honestly one of my favourite stories on this site- if not my absolute favourite- and your characters, wit, prose and plot never fail to both impress and amuse (when appropriate of course!) you are so talented, and im disgusted at myself for taking this long to review- this may be the third or fourth time ive read bathing in roses, and it honestly gets better with every reading!

above all, the development of june as a character is what awes me the most, and really highlights your talents as a writer. i love her, i love her relationship with albus- funny and angsty and romantic and above all, just so entertaining to read- the way this story is june's story, a real coming of age if there ever was one! "growing up with romance" - yes! perfect! to be honest, BIR is always kept at the back of my mind whenever i write my own coming of age fanfiction. you're such an inspiration.

thank you so much for writing this! until next time! (is it cheesy to quote your AN and/or priscilla? who is, btw, my all time favourite OC)

Author's Response: Hi there! This review really brightened my day, so thank you :D

Thank you so much :o I can't believe you've read this so many times! This story is really special to me--I wrote it in the end of high school/beginning of college, so it's like a photograph of that period in my life. By and large, I've outgrown it, but it represents a turning point in my life and my writing, so I'm super fond of it and it makes me really happy when another person likes it too! :D

June is definitely meant to be a little annoying in the beginning, but I had so much fun "growing her up" and having her be more independent and decisive. By any chance, have you read the mini-sequel "This Time With Us"? There's much more of grown up June (and grown up everybody) because of a 7 year timeskip. Not sure if that would be your thing, but it's out there if you haven't read it and you're curious!

Thank you so much for reading! And Priscilla would be very offended if you or anybody else thought quoting her was cheesy :P Until next time!

24th August 2015:
Thanks for replying to my first review so quickly! It's a bummer you don't know what happened but oh well.
So at first I wasn't too sure about this story cause I kind of hated June, like she was the kind of girl I personally would not be friends with and probably want to strangle. So as I'm sure you can understand I was very reluctant to keep reading. I'm so glad I did though cause she grew into a character I could like, she grew up kind of in these chapters and wasn't a child anymore. And I think you wrote the transition beautifully. I wish I could write even half as well as you

Author's Response: Hey there! I'm sorry that I couldn't give you any answers with regards to Zoey :(

Also, wow, you finished this story so fast! Thank you so much for reading and for sticking with June! She's definitely meant to be annoying in the beginning--I was annoyed just writing her :) Thanks again for reading and reviewing!

Review #12, by NicolaEve A Matter of Great Irrelevance

22nd August 2015:
This was really good I loved it. I'll definitely be reading the rest. I found your story because I was digging into shenanigans reviews and yours was the only one that had a proper name so it seemed like you knew her. Do you know what happened to her stories? They've all suddenly disapeared and no one has a clue what happened! Hope you know what happened. Keep writing, your work is amazing!

Author's Response: Hi there! And thanks for reading! I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far. Unfortunately, I haven't spoken to shenanigan in a long time (those reviews you read were probably the most recent time) and I didn't know about her situation at all until you mentioned it. I'm sorry that I'm of no help :(

Best of luck and I hope you can find out what happened.

20th October 2014:
hello hello hello! so i read this pretty much all in one go over sunday (and a bit of saturday) and i just needed to drop by and give you a nice long review because
excuse me if i'm a bit incoherent from now on. but, honestly, your character development was some of the best i've ever seen (june. albus. the hufflepuffs. EVERYONE) and they were all really unique, y'know. i liked how june's talents weren't really magic-related - sewing. and honestly i'm not even going to talk about albus because i'll probably just break down sobbing
ANYWAY just hats off to you for this. your characters are phenomenal. so is their development. it's written so well - extended so nicely, great style, funny - and this story has just got me straight back into fic. so thank you. and i hope you see this and have a great day; you deserve it!
AND ONE LAST THING BEFORE I FORGET - the wotters' opinions on the stalking and fangirls and stuff. genius. i very rarely see things like that, so thank you for being so original again :)

"lily ‘no, not that one’ potter"
i loved loved loved loved this chapter - the quidditch scene was excellent, priscilla was even excellent-er than usual, june is turning into a feminist icon, and albus is being a jealous little... cow.
anyway. hats off. (and i spelt genius wrong the first time, which is kind of an oxymoron)
