Can you write a sequel where Snape's portrait helps Lily with her guilt? It just kept hitting me how parallel their situations were...

29th July 2014:
I'm rather new to this site, and this is my first review. There are several thoughts swimming in my head as I finish this story

First, I really enjoyed this story, it was a fantastic read. The way the characters were written really worked well given their relations to arguably the most famous wizards of all time. Second, the pacing was great. It builds and builds until suddenly, all hell breaks loose and I legitimately could not stop reading this. Who needs sleep anyway? :P And I really did like Lily using the tools the Guard gave her as a weapon against them. This is really her story and she was portrayed beautifully.

That said, I did think the ending was a little rushed. I have so many questions that were unanswered. Like, how does Lily improve her relationship with her father after this trauma? How does Harry deal with his best friend's death? What becomes of Hermione? Did she continue fighting to lift the Statute? Do Rose, Al, or James ever find out how deeply Lily was involved? With all these questions, things seemed a little... unresolved.

I suppose it's a good thing that my biggest complaint about this story is the fact that there wasn't more of it. But like I said, I really did enjoy the hell out of this and I definitely want to read more from you. Keep up the great work!

House Cup 2014 Review: Educational Decree One

Hi :) I'm cheating a little by skipping to the end, but I promise that I will review everything in between.

I really like how you showed how much Lily has learnt from her tryst with the dark side just through her thoughts. It's a very complex way of looking at things, and I think you did a great job.

On a similar note, it's nice to see how much her character has developed and progressed through this story. Her feelings, thoughts, emotions and even self evaluation have undergone a complete remodelling. That being said, it does seem grossly unfair that she has somehow managed to not only get away with everything, but also gotten rewarded for it. But because I look at things with (sometimes) unnecessary depth, I thought it was symbolic of how we all go through so much in life and sometimes the people who are the most corrupt are the ones who get the larger share of the pie. And for what? I don't know if you ever intended to look at it from this angle, but it definitely struck me.

As usual, I absolutely adored the writing style and the flow. I love how you put things across really. I'm sorry if this seems rushed. I'm just trying to get one more in before the thread closes, and yes, I am shamelessly admitting it.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this story and I will definitely be following more of your writing. I actually didn't remember the author, only the story. But when I searched for it for the sake of this task, I was pleasantly surprised. I think you have a knack for writing a wide variety of things, and I am most definitely impressed with how you've seemingly tackled vastly different genres with ease.

Thank you for writing something so wonderful :)

Author's Response: Hiya, thanks for reviewing this one again!

I have to admit, there's nowhere near that level of thought in this story - I'm afraid you're giving Nanowrimo 2010 me far too much credit! But I'm really impressed with your interpretation, and I wish I'd actually consciously written it that way - I probably would now, but four years ago I just didn't put that much thought into my stories.

That's fine - go you for getting so many decree reviews in!

Thanks so much again - I'm not overly proud of this story in hindsight, given how far my writing's come since then, but I'm still really happy that you enjoyed it, and I'd definitely love for you to check out my more recent stuff!

Hi Lisa

WHAT are you doing to me??? I don't know if I'm going to have the time to be obsess- READ another one of your stories. I love the idea of Rose a Slytherin and a story that switiches POV between Rose and Lily. This seems like a great beginning and I really can't wait to get on with it. I was hoping to see a bit more of Scorpius, but perhaps in a few chapters. Thanks for another great read.

House Cup 2014 Review

Author's Response: I'm sorry! I don't actually recommend this one too highly if that makes it easier - this is a very old story, and I've been a bit surprised by its apparent resurgence - I think I have a decree to blame for that? But thank you for the review, and I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter!

House Cup 2014: Educational Decree Number One

Hello again :) I'm falling in love with story all over again. It's been a while, and perhaps I needed this. There's a lot I don't seem to remember, and I am one for details.

I loved the introduction. The whole Rose being evil part made me laugh. I love how she picks on the first years and rags them. It's so funny! (And it sounds a bit like something I would do. Don't know what that says about me *looks away shiftily*). Anyway, characterisation, as mentioned before- amazing.

I like how we get to see a bit more about Scorpius and her friends in this one. The friendship the four of them share is really nice to read about. It seems to effortless and natural, which is honestly one of the best kinds of friendship.

As for the second segment, from the perspective of a reader, I like how well you've differentiated Lily's thoughts from Rose's. It's easy to tell who is who without you having to explicitly state the POV.

Here too, I thought that you excelled in characterisation. I like how you're slowly unraveling things. Bit by bit, starting off with tiny snippets of what kind of people they are. I suppose, looking in retrospect, you do drop tiny hints all along.

Dialogue is seriously your best friend. It's witty and sharp and even funny at times. At no point, does it come across as draggy or boring. It actually adds value to your chapter.

I only spotted one mistake, no issue really.
Less Grandad reverts to his old ways. Lest, not less :)

Apart from that, I can't fault you. Another brilliant addition!

House Cup Review 2014: Educational Decree One

Hello again Lisa! It looks like I'm going to be stalking your page this entire week. Just as well. It isn't a bad place to camp. Not by a long shot.

Anyway, I must admit that long ago, when I didn't have a forums account, I cam across this story and read it. Twice. And now I just refreshed my memory again. (I can't seem to read your work just once :p) And I remembered that it contains student organisations and would be appropriate for this task.

As I know what's going to happen, I don't know how to go about this review. Do I already start screaming at you for the feels? Or the beauty that is the plot? No, wait. I'm going to try and stick to the boundaries of this chapter.

A very good introductory chapter. It isn't too heavy or too scant. So you've found a good balance. I like how you introduce us to so many characters without making the whole ordeal too expository. It's something I sometimes struggle with, and I commend you on this.

I absolutely love your characterisation. It's so unique! I love how Rose comes across as a little power hungry as well. It's nice to see her written in Slytherin for once, really. I think it suits her personality here. Lily too is coming along nicely. I like how you haven't bowed down to stereotypes. Your take on them both is so fresh. If I hadn't read this earlier, I'd have said that I'd love to see how you're going to take all of these things forward.

I love the dialogue. I think it's your strong points, honestly. Your characters come across as witty and their banter is quite fun to read.

Great job, Lisa! I'll be back :)

Author's Response: I'm glad you decided to camp out on my author page - I really appreciate it and hope you enjoyed your stay!

I'm actually really excited that you read this way back in the day, and decided to come back and review for the decree - thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Rose and Lily both wrote themselves to a certain extent - this was a Nano project so they sort of had to, really, but I'm still quite pleased with the way they turned out.

I do get that a lot, and I think that's once again a matter of the characters writing themselves. I've always been a bit surprised by my dialogue and the direction it takes - the writing gods are particularly kind to me on that front, I think.

Thanks again for the review!

Review #9, by Phoebe The Point of No Return

14th March 2013:
So... I really love this story. And I really really love the irony you've written in here. Rose and Scorpious in Slytherin, but head of the Unity. They're also the Golden Couple of Sorts.
Lily in Gryfindor, trying to find herself yet managing to find herself in the darkest of places, pregnant and on the way to completely ripping her family apart.
Rose is my favorite character and her part in the story is my absolute favorite, I am so proud of her. I think it's crazy that Lily mention that Rose always found her own path, and when push comes to shove, Rose is still standing by her family and fighting for good.
I can't say I agree with whatever Lily is doing, but I love the complications and different perspectives.
Amazing story.

Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it - this was my first take on the Next Gen bunch and I thought it would be interesting to see Rose and Scorpius in Slytherin. They're definitely on very different paths and I'm glad you're enjoying it - especially Rose, she was my favourite to write for this story. Thanks for reading!

Review #10, by PhoenixPulse One Hogwarts

11th March 2013:
Oh my bloody gawsh, this was beautiful!

I read this all in about two hours, just soaking in every word. The pacing was perfect, the plot twists were delicious, and the characterizations were realistic. Through out the whole fic, you had me on edge, just gripping my blanket as I sipped hot chocolate in bed. This was perfect.

I love how you split point of views of both Rose and Lily, good and dark. It was amazing how you managed it really. My favorite character was definately Lily. She was complex, and though she wasn't exactly "good", she emphasized on the tru meaning of "no one is perfect, we all have destroying flaws". And what I loved most was how Gryffindor she was. Though her dark nature would've defined her as Slytherin, Her Gryffindor colors really do show, to be able to defy what label she was confined to, to fight with her heart and mind, and in the end, proved great loyalty after finding out what she did was wrong.

I loved the use of humour in this as well. It had a slight touch of it, enough to make me smile and chuckle, but it wasn't so sugar coated with it. It was perfect.

Thank you for such an amazing read! It was definately worth two hours of my time! :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much for reading this! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and the different paths Rose and Lily were on, and I agree - Lily is definitely a Gryffindor at heart, despite her dark tendencies - just having the strength to walk away from that is evidence enough. Thanks for the review!

Wow. Intense intense story and plot. I'm not sure how I feel about Lily, but it was really interesting reading about her side of things. And I loved the somewhat bittersweetness of this chapter. Rose and Scorpius were adorable as usual, and this: "Victory is ours! Who're the brave ones now? Slytherin REPRESENT!", made me laugh. c:

But also the "Good to have you back," from Al at the end, gah... Lovely, lovely story with just a compelling and action packed plotline.

Author's Response: This was definitely a very intense story, and Lily especially is meant to be very morally grey, so I don't blame you for not knowing what to make of her. Thanks so much for reading!

Review #14, by me! The Point of No Return

14th April 2012:
“Your father’s such a lovely man,” he comments, rolling his eyes.

“He’s not all bad,” I reply, still thinking of his words at the Ministry.

“What do I have to do to gain his approval?” Scorpius asks, a hint of frustration in his voice. “Change my surname? Disown the family?”

“It’s nothing personal.”

“Nothing personal?” he repeats incredulously.

“Well, yeah, he’d be the same with any guy who wanted to go out with me.”

“How do you know that?”

“Coz I asked him what his problem with you was, why he seems so intent on mistrusting you, and he said he can’t trust anyone else to protect me.”

“Deep words from Ron Weasley.”

“I know, I was…surprised.”

“Perhaps I should find your dad and express my willingness to jump in front of an Avada Kedavra for you.”

“Don’t you dare ever do that. Jump in front of a curse for me.”

“Why not?”

“Because I couldn’t live without you. Damn Dad, he got me all sentimental.”

“I’m touched, Rose.” He places a hand over his chest. “Your grudging sentimentality warms my bitterly cold, black Malfoy heart.”

That is my absolute favourite bit :) nice idea with the patronuses too!

Author's Response: Glad you appreciated it!

Review #18, by Bookworm045 One Hogwarts

9th January 2012:
Oh.My.God. That was such a fast-paced end. It was kind of perfect, yet I still want more from it. I adored this fic, in every way. It was written so wonderfully and the words all flowed so well. I liked that it was mostly from two different points of views, Lily's and Rose's, because for the most of the story, they were on different sides and that gave me insight to both. Even though I didn't like her for most of it, I can almost see why Lily would do such things that she did because I'm sure everyone knows the pressure to be better than what you can be, to be something they're not. And Rose, Rose who stuck by herself throughout the whole thing, and remained a leader even when she was stripped of the title. She was amazing. I adore Scorpius so beyond much because he's such a cutie and I still wish I had him for myself, but it's okay because Rose's got him. I also loved Ron and Hermione and Harry and Ginny, Draco and Astoria and Teddy and Al and Lysander. James wasn't too bad, because he was big on the family thing, and Lorcan is just icky. Bleck. I do look forward to reading more of your work in the near future, so this isn't really a goodbye, but thank you anyway for another spectacular read.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, again, for reading and reviewing - I really appreciate it and these reviews were wonderful! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story!

Whoa. I'm speechless. What a brilliant fight scene. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect. I have to go read the last chapter now.

9th January 2012:
"Suffice it to say, Dad, I'm not defenceless when it comes to Dark magic. So long as you promise not to arrest me for anything I do tonight, I'll be fine."

There are no words to describe the look on Dad's face right now. Mum looks almost sheepish, an "I'm sorry for condoning our daughter's education in Dark magic" expression on her face.

"All's fair in war," Dad says at length. "Though you didn't hear that from me." He disappears back into the office.

Why couldn't my parents be that epically funny? That made me laugh so hard which might be kind of strange. Lily is quickly becoming a favorite. She's so awesome.

Rose and Scorpius are such Slytherins it's hilarious. But they're adorable and I still love them and Ron was so wonderfully confused at the matching patronuses and Lily's being a source oh yay! Good for her!
