Nice. I can see the Snape portrait feeling and acting like this.
Of course if you are going to get into the whole subject of life after death you have to deal with the fact that the portrait is only a shadow of what the person is after they die. The portrait has no experience of the actual life after death. They are frozen at the moment of death, with only the experiences that they see out the frame of their little world, plus being able in some way to visit other portraits.
I would think at some point the soul that has gone on will be joined to any portraits to “complete” the person in some way.
I have a long (45 chapters plus more out of order) post Hogwarts and 2nd generation story, waiting for Mrs_Grainger to finish her story and beta mine. I have dealt a little with Albus Severus. (I am actually up to Lilly's birth.) The name is fascinating. Why Harry would want to name his son after Dumbledore and Snape. How Ginny would react. You would think Snape would be stunned! Can you work that into a plot?
I’ll remember this little work.Author's Response: thanks!
The life after death thing was a bit weird to write, because the portraits are the same as the people, but they aren't. It's quite confusing...
Harry felt great gratitude to Dumbledore and Snape, maybe love too but I've always wondered what Snape would feel if he knew what Harry named his son. Then this idea came into my head.
Thank you soo much for your lovely comment! Report Review
I did indeed like it - in fact I loved it. Thank you so much.Author's Response: thanks, i'm glad you loved it! Report Review
Though I'm not sure Severus's portrait would have been up so soon, it gave a different perspective. If it wasn't up during or after the Battle, I think Harry would have fought for it. Yes he was Lily's son. He had the perfect mix of both parents. I'm pleased that this idea popped and encouraged you to write it. I'd love a chapter of Harry coming to talk to Severus and thanking him. Sweet chapter.
FoMAuthor's Response: thank you so much!!!
Yes, i was thinking harry might have fought for it, but in the 6th book after dumbledore died, his portrait was up quickly, so i think there might be some spell that puts the up automatically.
anyways thanks for the great review! Report Review
