Review #1, by Pretense Of Perfection the fires we feel

8th July 2014:
Hello there!!!

Beautiful story, I love reading about any of the Founders, especially Rowena Ravenclaw. Even though I'm a Gryffindor, she's definitely one of my favorite founders.

I think you managed to capture her father's affection toward her very well, as well as his apprehension and sadness over his daughter leaving, and probably never seeing her again. The love between a father and daughter is something sacred and special, and you portrayed it all in 500 words.

I really enjoyed your similies and comparisons throughout the story. The description you give is detailed and intense. I think my favorite part is probably the line where Rowena's father is talking about his god, and describing him as "riding humanity as the wildest of creatures..." It literally took my breath away, and brought to mind a fierce looking warrior doing exactly that.

His dislike of Godric over being the cause of his daughter leaving also felt very genuine and complex. I like how he tries to almost compete against him by telling the readers about the doe he killed.

I didn't notice any spelling or grammar errors, so great job there! The plot was inspired, and the pacing was perfect. Amazing job, keep writing!!

Review #2, by Jazzeh Turnip the fires we feel

22nd August 2010:
This is so poetic and beautiful. It's only on the rare occasion that something that's not particularly sad makes me cry, and that it's the fault of the writing itself not the plot.

I never thought before that Rowena would've been alive when the Grey Lady (did she have a name in canon?) was killed. It's very tragic though, if she was. No parent wants to outlive their children.

The old style (I'm articulate at 3am, I know) you've written in is so magnificent. That ending sentence would've been less effective with out it and it just compliments the whole theme of the piece and the characters. If it was written "normally" then I'm not sure I would be effected quite in the way I am now.

Well done on writing such a stunning piece. I've read a LOT of the entries for the every word counts challenge, and this is up there with the best of 'em.

Review #3, by FannyPrice the fires we feel

21st August 2010:

I really enjoyed this Kali, and really short, but excellent and beautiful described Founders. I enjoyed the language, and the details that firmly placed it in the time period--the furs, the hunt, the horses, etc.

So lovely! A really great take on Rowena's pov of her daughter leaving!

Great job!

Author's Response: Hey Miranda! Thank you so much for reviewing! :) I'll get to reading and reviewing Rat.Wolf.Dog asap.

I'm so glad you liked the language! I had to keep the story short for the challenge, so I tried to use visualization more than anything else, to make it short but (hopefully) vivid.

Thank you so much! *hugs* I'm so glad you liked it.

XOXO, Kalina
