Review #1, by I_trusted_Snape13 prologue / the trial

29th June 2012:
This was truly remarkable - it caught my interest from the very beginning and held it completely until Draco's last thought, which does not normally happen for me with chapters of this length. But, I adored this!

I'd been looking for a Draco/Astoria story and your stories were recommended by someone and I am SO glad! You're a fantastic writer!

I was so entranced by your opening scene with the Parkinson drowning, I thought that was a unique, captivating scene that definitly caught my entrance to the story.

I felt the trial was extremely well written and that you completely did it justice;which I imagine is not an easy thing to do.

I adored the way you portray Draco - he's completely canon, not out of character in the least. Even in third person narrative you know what he's thinking and that, to me, is how third person narrative should be. It was literally like reading one of JKR's books, he was so spot on!

I like the way Astoria saved him and the 'relationship' they've started, it's really open, yet secretive. I like the way their eyes didn't meet and they fell in love and got married! That's incredibly cheesy! This was great!

One more Draco compliment: I can't thank you enough for keeping him in character, I get SO tired of reading these stories where he's written like he's "changed" in to a character like Noah Calhoun from the Notebook! Good job!

This was a truly captivating, enticing first chapter and I guarantee that I will read more. Good job, I'm absolutely certain that JKR would be proud of this magnificent chapter. You certainly did her characters, and entire HP universe, justice.

Well done!
10/10

Author's Response: eee, thank you so much! this story is a lot of hard work and I find it quite hard to get into writing it, despite this being my otp and all, so having you come and leave this lovely review has put an enormous smile on my face!

it wasn't really an easy chapter to write, no, even if this is a rewrite of the original. draco's a very hard character to write, and it was pretty difficult to get that fine balance between creating sympathy for him and still managing to portray how nasty he is as a person - I still don't think I've got there with my characterisation is, it's an ongoing project, haha. so, again, it's made me grin that you're saying this, thank you so much!

thank you so much for leaving this wonderful review and I'm really glad you liked it :D ♥

How have I not read this before?! You have made me start shipping Draco/Astoria so much. I wasn't always the biggest fan (and even though it hasn't happened in this story yet) I have come to love the pairing ♥ I realised that I probably sound like I just say that I love all of your stories but I seriously do! aha You are seriously so talented, I only wish I could write like you. This isn't even a review...oopsy. I really do love reading your serious stories. Ughn. I'm really enjoying this one so far. Everything is so interesting! I love the way you got rid of Pansy ~ as lovely as that sounds :P It gets annoying when you read story after story of Draco actually hating her (some of them are really good..but yeah). I loved the emotion that Draco showed (thought...whatever) when he thought about Pansy. I loved the interactions between everyone. I could go on forever about everything so I'll just stop there ♥

Author's Response: hi there! It'd been up for aaages (ever since I made my hpff account lolol) BUT this is a rewrite, starting almost from scratch, so I'm very very glad you waited until now to read it, haha! the previous version was riddled with plot holes and grammar derps and one-dimensional characters. ohh, your reviews are so lovely though! It's always so nice to hear from you ^^ yeah, I feel that Pansy gets pretty short shrift in fanfic - okay, she was hardly a nice girl in canon, but fanfic writers tend to just make her into some screeching harpy whom Draco hates because he wants to be with his ~one true love~ hermione. I actually think Pansy and Draco might have got on well so...just my headcanon! anyway. thank you so so much for this review - I'm really glad you liked it! ♥

Your story is truly starting to get addicting. I feel like you've pinpointed exactly how Draco would be feeling at the time. Amazing really. Can't wait for the update!

Author's Response: Thank you! I've always been interested in post-hogwarts as an era and what would have happened to the 'other' side, people like the Malfoys. Hopefully I can put up a new chapter soon! Thank you fr the review ♥

oh my goodness how has this not got any reviews yet? anyways I lovelovelove it so far, you're so good with draco/astoria. you're writing style is also awesome so far, the only critique I have is the end for this chapter was a little shaky. I hope you update soon :)

Author's Response: thank you so much for saying so! seeing as this is a rewrite, I'm trying to merge old chapters with new ones, so it may be a little shaky in places - I'll check that over if I go back to edit. thank you for the review & I'm really glad you liked it! ♥
