Review #1, by celticbard Dream, sweet

23rd December 2010:
Hey Shiloh!
This piece has so much of the perverted fairy tale in it, accompanied by a subtle layer of tension and desire. I really like what you've done with Narcissa here. She is almost unreachable in her perfection. Although I want to relate to her as a character, although I feel as though I should pity her, I really can't. She's raised herself above human emotion and the only thing that's left of her is that tiny trace of doubt, nearly imperceptible, but potent when recognized.

This was a lovely, poetic piece, Shiloh. I enjoyed every bit of it. The emphasis on perfection and purity had a creepy undertone to it, perfectly echoing the Pureblood fanaticism of Voldermort and his Death Eaters. Lucius was likewise well done and although I think he loves Narcissa, his expectations of her are chilling.

This was a great one-shot, Shiloh. Really wonderful writing.

Best,
celticbard

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I had fun writing this piece and I really tried to capture the way Narcissa would be feeling. Realizing, perhaps, what she's gotten herself into but the reality being that she chose this. She's made her bed and now she must lie in it.

Your reviews are so lovely :)

Review #2, by liza_potter Dream, sweet

1st September 2010:
Hey, this is lizzacc from the forums with your requested review.

Wow. I really don't know what to say. You've left me speechless and dumbstruck.

Firstly, that was so... brilliant? Wonderful? I'm not quite sure what adjective to use. Beautiful. Yes, it was beautiful.

It seemed poetic, in a way. The imagery in your descriptions was amazing. Particularly in the beginning; I could picture everything unfolding before my eyes.

I liked the characterization of Narcissa. It was exactly as I saw her. The youngest, the fairest, the purest, never one to disappoint.

What else to say, what else to say... I think I'll stop now, as I have nothing negative to point out and I think I've gushed enough.

Review #3, by PenguinsWillReignSupreme Dream, sweet

Oh my gosh.
I love it, Shiloh. I have come to stalk you and picked at random and wooow.

I rarely read Narcissa just because she tends to be characterised a bit weirdly for my liking. Here, you've completely changed my view on that. The repetition of the bits in italics is not only striking because it's repeated but for the sheer content. It is so gorgeous and then that last phrase completely throws it out of synch in such a brilliant way.

The whole flow is divine. The description of Narcissa at the start really was stunning and for such a short piece, the story feels wonderfully complete.

The single line of dialogue is so effective. It really strikes you, especially with the ambiguity of it for both her and the reader. Fantastic use of it.

I absolutely adore this, Shiloh.

xx

Author's Response: RACHEL! Goodness, you're too kind. I've been agonizing over how to reply to this.
First of all, you left me absolutely glowing with happiness. I love getting random and unexpected reviews. Especially someone I stalk to a rather scary level.
I've never written Narcissa before, but I saw that banner, and thought of the first/last line, and thought of her right off! For once, I actually sat down and wrote something all in one go. Of course, then I had to do some MAJOR editing, as it was terrible.

STILL GLOWING HERE.

ILY immensely. This was such a lovely review.

XOXO

I like it -- you have really great imagery in your descriptions, especially at the start.

I love how it's just a moment frozen in time; you felt no need to elaborate on Lucius and Narcissa's relationship, and I salute you for that. I always feel background slows a story.

It was very short, but what else is a one-shot for, hey? To dream every unfulfilled wish, indeed.
