OH MY GOD. MELISSA. WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED OF THIS BEAUTY? You are pretty fab at writing, if I may say so. Really. This is totally awesome and gorgeous and everything. I really felt for Xavier. YOU HAVE SUCH A WONDERFUL WAY WITH WORDS, YOUNG LADY. NOW GO AND WRITE SOME MORE! ♥

Author's Response: Hattie ♥

This old thing?!!? I can't even begin to tell you how thrilled I was to see a review for this one shot. I have a small spot in my heart for Xavier. AND DON'T TELL SUCH FIBBS YOUNG LADY. I do like this one shot, but I feel as though the whole disillusionment would be more effective if I had written this more recently.

Thank you so much!

Review #2, by Toujours Padfoot I.

14th February 2011:
Wow...I can't believe this didn't have any reviews. It's a freaking masterpiece. It was humorous, but heartbreaking. You managed to narrate it in such a way that it was very carefully depressing. It's the kind of depressing that makes you think, rather than the in-your-face depressing. Am I making sense? I confuse myself...

I think this was magical in a very different way. It made me think of Fred Astaire. I remember hearing once that someone helped him up the stairs when he was old, and just remarked on how surreal it was that someone like Fred Astaire needed help to walk. To know that your true love, your livelihood, your whole world...that you are too old and too weak to do it anymore - it would be devastating. I mean, what would you do? No wonder Mr. Rastrick was delusional. I would be, too.

This was fantastic. 10/10.

:)

Author's Response: Sarah. You silly scaly man fish you. I can't believe that you nominated this of all things for the featured one shot. I am thrilled to death (not literally of course) that you caught onto the sneaky depressing feel of the piece. I only really wanted it to be sad in retrospect and for it to be funny (as funny as I can manage) in the moment. I can't say that I had thought of Fred Astaire when I had written this, but in retrospect it is such a beautiful connection to RL.

Thank you so much!
