Very interesting. I haven't read The Book Thief, but I think some one told me that the narrator was death, is that right? That doesn't really come across, but I think it might be too morbid that way anyway.
I gather that you intended this to feel a little disjointed?
I like the concept. It's nicely done.
A point of clarification: Lily is a bit younger than Scorpius and Rose, yes?

Author's Response: Yeah, the narrator is death. But that wasn't this. I just meant the style of the writing, not the narrator. But thanks. And yeah, 2 years younger.
