Review #1, by JLandDHforever A Lost Dream

7th November 2009:
I'm not really a Sirius/Lily fan; I'm a die-hard James/Lily supporter, but this was very well-written! You didn't make Sirius out to be a womanizer, like he is usually portrayed, and that is one of the things I like about this fic. Also, the way your words flowed together was just so good!

Author's Response: I've stated this before: I don't like Sirius/Lily as a pairing. I do really love James/Lily, and a lot of that is because they have such potential as a love-hate relationship.

But I don't like Sirius/Lily. There are some excellent stories out there that I've loved, but in general, Sirius's portrayal irks me. And it saddens me when people write about how Lily married James, but all along, she just loved Sirius so much and they cheated on him the whole time. It just feels wrong, and I can't bring myself to read those.

And yet I find the ship plausible, for the same reason I find Snape/Lily and Remus/Lily plausible. Everyone loved Lily. She was just one of those people. To me, it would be odd if all of the Marauder's didn't have some sort of feelings for her at one point or another, and JKR has explicitly stated that Lily could easily have loved Snape had he not been so horrid in public. And I can see Lily crushing on Sirius, or coming to really enjoy Remus because of their shared interests.

What it comes down to is James, every single time. James saw Lily first. What's more, he made it obvious to everyone how much he liked her. Sirius would never be able to ignore that (nor would Remus, for that matter). He wouldn't be able to betray James like that. If their situations had been reversed, I think James would have done the same thing; that was just the intensity of their friendship.

I never wanted to write S/L. When I started this challenge, I intended to use Neville. But the more I thought about it, the better it fit Sirius. So, keeping that in mind, I wrote the kind of S/L fic that wouldn't make me go "BUT WHERE'S THE CANON. JAMES? JAMES? WHERE IS JAMES OMG SIRIUS YOU'RE SUCH A PLAYER WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

And here we are. Thanks so much for your review! I really appreciate it.

Review #2, by FairytaleEndings A Lost Dream

Again, beautiful writing. The idea of Sirius/Lily had never crossed my mind, and if it had done, it probably wouldn't have done in such an elegant way... I dislike the idea of playboy Sirius - ones like this appeal to me so much more...
A beautiful one-shot, so thank you :)

Author's Response: To be honest, I hate Sirius/Lily. HATE it. It's probably one of my least favorite ships, so I never imagined myself writing it. But the idea just took hold. I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and thanksso much for reviewing!

I thought this was a wonderful little piece of writing. You really managed to convey the brotherly relationship between James and Sirius, and I think that you wrote Sirius exactly how he would have dealt with this situation if it had ever presented itself in the canon world.
Oh, and I really liked your writing style. Everything seemed to flow brilliantly.

Great job. Keep up the good work :)

Was this really your first time at a Sirius fic? It was fantastic! I'm with you as far as not being a Sirius/Lily fan, but from the way you wrote this, I actually considered that he might have had feelings for her... you made it plausible. Congrats.

Author's Response: Believe it or not, yes. I've never attempted any of the Mauraders before except for some minor Remus. I'm so glad you found it plausible, because I so often find S/L stories that, while they might be lovely, directly contradict canon in ways that I find completely implausible. So thanks so much for your support!
