Review #1, by Ford Anglia A Lupine Christmas

29th November 2017:
I love Canon in D! It is one of my favorite pieces. I am so glad you included it in your story. Your story is great so far! It is exactly the kind of story I've been looking for for ages. I always wondered about the maurauders at school. Thank you!

I am sorry I haven't reviewed any chapters before this one. I got so caught up in reading that I just wanted to continue. Now, if you'll excuse me, I will continue your brilliant story.

Review #2, by demoui Epilogue

6th September 2016:
I've been reading this story instead of sleeping for the past 5 days. Finally finished and I must say you're the first author since J.K.Rowling and J.R.R.Tolkien that managed to write something so good I needed to stay up and keep reading.
Other than the obvious name differences or small clashes with JKR books (e.g. Harry's 1st birthday was James and Lily with Bathilda Bagshot alone) this is considered CANON in my opinion.
I cannot imagine how much effort you put into creating this masterpiece but I'm absolutely thrilled to finally have the story of the most brilliant troublemakers in Hogwarts history. I also really liked the way you portrayed Lily as she's one of the characters I'd really liked to read more about. I liked that you didn't portray her like Hermione or Ginny but rather a combination of the two.
I also enjoyed seeing Remus and Peter getting more involved than the HP books would have as believe, as those books portrayed Remus and Peter as merely followers. I think that JKR wrote herself in a corner with Peter as I cannot see any Gryffindor traits in him, but you managed to find reasons for a transformation (that to be honest is somewhat difficult to believe, but suspension of disbelief and all that).
There are a few things that don't make sense, like why would Voldemort want a Mudblood, but again that's JKR's fault with that prophecy, I can see that you had no choice in the matter.
There are a few things more that I would have liked to be here, like why exactly did Voldemort chose Harry instead of Neville and some Quidditch excitement and my biggest one: How did the Marauders find out what Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin dormitories looked like to record them on the map.
I'm most grateful to have found this story and I'm eager to see if you have any more in you in the future.

Author's Response: As someone who greatly values sleep, please get some sleep now!! But wow, that is awesome to even be put in the same category as those two amazing writers! Of course there are some differences, especially now that we know more about the characters' histories. The first 17 chapters, I believe, were written before Deathly Hallows came out and the rest was written without Pottermore (or some things where I just forgot info from the book). I worried about my portrayal of Lily. I wanted her to be her own character when she finally really came into the story because she was always there, but wasn't really a character until 6th/7th year. Remus is my favorite (if you couldn't tell, lol), so he definitely got a lot of involvement in this. I totally understand why the whole Voldemort thing didn't make sense (it didn't make sense to me as I was writing it either). And I do wish I had gone into why Harry was picked over Neville. Haha, very easy explanation for why Quidditch was never really gone into outside of tryouts and James talking about it - I hate writing Quidditch matches, but I still wanted it to be a presence in the story. I did post a one-shot about two months ago, which was the first fanfic I've written since I completed this, if you're interested in that. Thank you so much for reading! I'm glad you liked it!

OMG. Such a brilliant story. Are you sure you are not JK in disguise? The school years were so good, I wished I was there too. I laughed at their pranks and mock arguments. I cried at the deaths. You made it so believable and even though I knew the ending I couldn't help but cry. Wonderful story. So glad you wrote it, I just wish I had found it sooner.

Author's Response: Lol I wish I was her, but sadly I'm not. Thanks for reading! I'm glad you liked it!

Truly a wonderful read, probably the best that I've ever seen and I wish I had found this much sooner. What an emotional roller coaster from the joys of the four best friends to the the guessing at who was the traitor and then the final action. The epilogue was truly amazing and caused many tears to flow as they had throughout the final chapters but I couldn't prevent the breakdown despite knowing the end result.
Thanks for the amazing read, I reckon the best fanfic to ever be posted!

Author's Response: Wow, thank you! Glad you liked it so much!!

Hey, just wondering, couldn't the Healers have used "Episkey" and feed Remus's leg? Or is it something different?

Author's Response: Because Remus is a werewolf and because the injury was a result of a 'cure' it's something different (this is in my made up fanfiction world, of course). Thank you for reading!

"Yeah... well... We're even, then." THE most heartbreaking line. It gets me every time I read your story, which is now probably the 4th or 5th time.
It's like reading JKR herself. The way your plot is laid out so perfectly and follows exactly all the information that we know from the books, is exceptional. And the attention to detail is astonishing.
You have great talent.
Thank you for this piece of genius!

Author's Response: Wow, that's amazing you've read it so many times. Thank you for reading!

I LOVE THIS STORY... This is an amazing story and you are an AWESOME writer. When i started this story i vowed to myself that i would write a review of every chapter, but curiosity got the better of me so i decided to write a huge review for all the chapters.
I always wanted to know more about the marauders and their pasts as JKR did not go into detail about that and you covered all that i wanted to know. I have to admit that a couple of times during the story I didn't get what you wrote but it all fell in place perfectly.
I really do love this story because it shows the bonds between the 4 marauders and how they still loved and trusted each other even though they grew apart over the years.
Your characters are everything thing i imagined them to be. You have hit perfection when it comes to their personalities.
You truly are an amazing writer and you have inspired me to write a story of my own. I can only hope its as good as yours.

Author's Response: I've always wanted to know more about the Marauders too. They're my favorite characters and I find them so interesting. Thank you so much for reading!

Review #10, by padfootmyhero Epilogue

23rd October 2014:
Wow, I honestly have no words. You're such a talented girl and I can't tell you how grateful I am that you posted this Story. I've always wanted to read a Fanfiction about the Marauders, a good one that matched with my head canons but I've never been successful. At the beginning I thought "Wow 94 Chapters ? I don't think I will ever read it till the end" But when I started with chapter one I honestly couldn't stop myself from reading more and more. I wanted to read about how they first met, how their friendship grew up and how they grew up, how they life was like in Hogwarts, how they managed it to become Animagi and how the found out that Remus was a Werewolf. Then I found your Story I knew it was the best Story I would ever be able to find. I never laughed and cried so hard because of a Fanfiction. Those Weeks I've spent on reading this Fanfiction were one of the best ones. I was so excited to continue this Story. I read in every free minute the Nobel. The Characters were exaclty as I imagined them. Sirius and Remus will always be faves and this Story confirmed it even more. I enjoyed reading their "fights" and how JAmes and Peter called them a an old married couple. The Relationship of the Marauders was something so big and I will never get over the fact it all ended. It shows me that you can't even trust your best friends in such a situation and that hurts deeply.
I loved when they spent the Holidays at the Lupins or Potters. I loved when they laughed over those stupid things, how they went through so many hard times. Oh and I loved the relationship between Lily and James. The way she hated him the first years and calling him "Potter". I also loved the Brother Relationship between Sirius and James. It was just too cute. I will never forget when Sirius woke James up in the middle of the night saying "James you know you're like a brother to me right?" I honestly loved every single part.
What was also very good written was the death of each Parents. It was so sad and got me crying very much. (I'm not a person who cries very easily btw)
I'm sitting here, crying since hours. One of the facts is basically that I can't believe the Fanficiton is over, the other one is that I don't wanna believe the way it ended.
I can't thank you enough and I will say it again and again. Thank you so so much. I'm from Germany I hope you understood everything haha. Btw I understood every word of your Fanfiction that shows you're a really good writer that even People from other countries can understand every word. (What I'm trying to say is that you didn't use too complicated Words which is very important for a good writer in my opinion) I will read the Fanfiction all over again and again. Thank you! ♥

Author's Response: Thank you so much for this review! It is a long story, so I'm always glad when someone reads the whole thing :D I love the Marauders so I always wanted their complete story and I figured if JK Rowling will never give it to us, I may as well write my own. Sirius and Remus are my favorites too, so they got a lot of time in this story and I'm glad you liked it! I'm with you on never getting over how the Marauders ended. I was actually watching Deathly Hallows Part 2 last night and thinking "can't it end differently!" The friendship of James and Sirius is always one that I liked, especially because James knew he could trust Sirius and, in one way, he could and, in another, he couldn't because Sirius had poor judgment when it came to thinking peter was weak. Aw that means my writing was effective if you don't cry easily :D ah that's awesome! I used to have that problem where I'd use crazy words, but I grew out of it fortunately. I just went to Germany over the summer and I loved it there! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

Review #11, by gigi Epilogue

10th August 2014:
I loved your novel. Took me 10 days to get through it, what with RL getting in the way, but it was completely worth it. There are a lot of Marauder stories out there, but I have never found one that depicts the entire story of their brotherhood and I just love you for taking the time and effort to write this. I see that it was 3 years in the making and its rare to see an endeavor that long be seen to completion and not left abandoned.

I love how close the boys were through their short lives and I like how you showed how much the war affected them close to home throughout the story and brought the 1st Wizard war to life. I loved how close Remus and Sirius were and lived together and argued like an old married couple, I always imagined it this way, but one doesn't usually see this in other stories, there's usually the focus on the Sirius-James relationship. I wish however that Remus' life was made a bit easier with the discovery of the Wolfsbane potion that in canon was discovered before they graduated. I liked how you wrote James and Lily's relationship, including how they defied Voldemort 3 times and it wasn't all fluffy because that's not how I think James and Lily would be. I liked how involved Peter was and not just an afterthought. Unfortunately, he didn't feel that way and in the end let Sirius' friendly jibes and the boys' respect for his privacy or protecting his feelings rub him the wrong way and even the fact that Voldy and his gang of DEs killed Mr. Pettigrew was not enough to prevent him from deflecting to the dark side. And of course, I love my bf Sirius because despite all his issues like saying or doing things with disastrous consequences like the Whomping Willow incident and the botched Fidelius charm, his friends were always #1, because Merlin knows, his family wasn't. I always see him as the Marauder in Chief that brought them together and made them cool, all the way from their 1st ride on the Hogwart's Express, investigating Remus' illness, the Animagi resolution and the Map. I liked how Harry was named after Mr. L (even though that was not his canon name) and I guessed you'd do the death/birth on the same day when I saw that Mr. L's name was Harry.

I am pleased to see you still read and respond to reviews even 3 years after completion of this story, but I also see that you have not written anything new, on this site at least. I hope you will, because this was very good and I finally broke out sobbing on reading the last line. I'm still bummed I don't know who the cuties depicting Remus and Sirius in the banner are and am hoping someone who knows will tell me. I hope someone makes a TV teen drama about the Marauders one day, I think it would be a pretty cool show watching them get into all sorts of trouble at Hogwarts, but I know that ultimately the Marauders story is a tragedy and not a comedy. Anyway, best wishes or mischief managed till your next story or when you solemnly swear you're up to no good.

Author's Response: Hey, 10 days is impressive! I sometimes get possessed to read this and it takes me at least a month! Yeah, it definitely took a while to write, but I wanted to do it justice and I couldn't do everything I wanted in such a short time, but I enjoyed writing it so 3 years writing it wasn't bad at all!

I honestly love the idea of Harry's parents and their friends and how their story was basically just a tragedy because of the first war, so I wanted to do my own take on it. Haha yeah, it does make sense that people focus on James and Sirius because it's hammered into our heads that they're best friends, but I'm more biased towards Remus because he's my favorite and I feel like Sirius would have been incredibly protective of him, hence their bond in this story. (Plus writing their arguments is so much fun). We definitely have the same view on James and Lily's relationship. Of course they have their fluffiness, but I just can't imagine James being very romantic (Harry certainly isn't). Their defiances were hard to write so I'm glad you liked them! Yeah, I really don't like when Peter is ignored in stories. He's a pretty prominent character in the actual series and he had to be their friend for a reason, right? Yeah, it's all just a series of misinterpretations and he lets it get to him in the end. Yeah, Sirius is a fantastic character and sooo much fun to write. That's how I see him! Like James is the 'leader' but Sirius is the brains. Harry being named after Mr. Lupin was actually my inspiration to write this story (or part of it). Haha yeah, I didn't know what his canon name was at the time (I like JKR's name for him, but he'll always be Harry Lupin to me). Yeah, I thought it'd be fun to do the birth/death that way :D

Yeah, I still appreciate getting new reviews so I like to respond to them. Yeah I haven't written fanfiction since I finished this. I've been writing my own stuff. I may one day write out a one-shot but my inspiration has been lame lol Aww, yeah I wish I knew who they were too! I know there's a way to do a reverse photo search on the internet but I've yet to figure it out. Ooh that'd be an awesome show, I'd watch it! Haha same to you! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing :D

Like everyone said, I'm bawling my eyes out. I'm glad the awkwardness only lasted a month and they all found that Gryffindor bravery and faced the elephant, or werewolf, in the room. I thought they may not reveal they know his secret till they figured out how to become Animagi, but I liked how this chapter handled it.

Author's Response: Haha, yeah the werewolf in the room was difficult to ignore :p Ahh I never even thought of doing a scenario like that, where they told him they knew when they figured out how to become Animagi. That's an interesting idea. Thanks for reading!

Review #17, by pnixfeathers No Turning Back

14th June 2014:
Oh my God!!! I am literally crying with frustration at Peter and his imbecillic ways! I just wish they saw the signs of Peter'z inevitable betrayal.
The way you have written each characters perspective is truly brilliant! I think the only reason youre not in the yop tens is because youre story is too long and some would have been scared off by the length. Why don't you divide this story up and write it as a new fanfic? So maybe you can release a new fanfic about their life after hogwarts and use the chapterz you already have. That way youll get the recognition you deserve!!

Author's Response: Yeah Peter is pretty stupid. I wish they'd seen the signs too but, if they had, we'd probably have no Harry Potter series that would be sad.

I'm not sure what the yop tens is? I thought about dividing it but I decided against it. I like that it's long. I wouldn't want to release a new fic about their lives after Hogwarts because the chapters are already written and they're here. It wouldn't feel the same if I split this up. It's their entire story in, literally, one story. If people are enjoying reading it, I don't really need the recognition.

Review #19, by Prongs05JP A Compartment For Four

10th August 2013:
Well, hey there! Haha, I was going through a bit of a nostalgic phase and decided to give this fic another go. It might take me weeks or months to finish it, but I'm a man on a mission! Goodness. When I first started reading this I was in my mid-teens and pretty immature (it shows in the reviews I used to leave, dear Merlin LOL [a testament to how much I was enjoying the story, I assure you, but not my level of intelligence bahaha]) and a part of me was wondering if I'd bigged this all up as being greater than it was because of how young I was when reading it (no offence, of course). Turns out I was totally wrong, and I still adore this! It's so interesting to now look back on this from a different perspective (a lot can change in three years!) and even more satisfying to enjoy it just as much as I did then. Even just the first chapter, haha!

Not going to lie, I got pretty emotional just reading this first paragraph knowing that the story ends so bittersweetly, but as ever it's fantastic. You've set the four of them up really well for whatever misdemeanours they're going to get up to, and you're already playing on each individual trait that makes them how they are. Peter's desire to prove himself, Remus' lonliness, Sirius in the clutches of the Blacks and James just.. well, being James.

I remember when I read all of this the first time, it pretty much became canon for me. That in mind, I'm looking forward to getting to know the four of them all over again - thank you so much for this fic.

Now answer my review or.. face the wrath of.. me? Wasn't that what I used to do?

Yo' Biggest Fan

Author's Response: Haha hi! I go to the nostalgic place sometimes too and read things I haven't read in ages too, so you're in good company :-p Haha your reviews were entertaining though! I'm glad that it's still good to you and you're just not remembering it better than it actually is :D And the fact that it became canon for you is pretty awesome too (especially with all the information we just got off Pottermore about Lupin - which, if you haven't read, go read it now... even though it's depressing as anything).

Haha yes it is, I had to face the wrath lol thanks for reading! (Again!)

Review #25, by Pheonix Potioneer Epilogue

12th October 2012:
Wow. This story is amazing. It is so long, but that makes sense since it is all their 7 years and up to when James and Lily die. This is the story of the winding path the Marauders took, and you portray that so well.

I think the ending is sad, but it has to be sad, you didn't have a choice. The Marauders were best friends, and all of that came crashing down when James and Lily died. Its so sad! Remus and Sirius would eventually repair their friendship, but it would never be the same.

Thank you so much! It was heartbreaking to read the end, but it was also so good the way you wrote that Keep up the good work!

Author's Response: Yeah, there is no choice except to make the ending sad. If it was happy, it wouldn't be true to the Marauders' end. I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for reading!
