Review #1, by Bookmonkey Pen-Pal Disclosure

19th October 2015:
Oh my goodness! This was an addicting story! Amazing handle on the what if that was your premise. Good choice in eliminating the use of Horcruxes, it would have been difficult and wouldn't have flowed well with your premise. The only critique I have would be flashbacks (I know how difficult it is to transition nicely between flashbacks and the present). Needless to say at the way you worked around it was at lest clear what was past and what was present. Great work Avanell!!

19th October 2015:
Haha! Really liked how you mixed how they met in book one in with this not meeting until seventh year twist. And you went so far as to think of how other characters besides the Trio would be affected without Hermione. Great Work, looking forward to the rest!

Author's Response: Again thanks...I may have started writing this before the final book came out. See publication date on the other site I mentioned in another review.

I like the premise and the sneak peak so far! It is in interesting "what if" story, excited to see how you work through them having seventh year at Hogwarts instead of all over the place!

Review #4, by oldershouldknowbetter The Girl at the Train Station

25th November 2014:
So the last chapter was all set up, now we get into the story. And it seems to me it's going to be a good one.

Such an interesting premise having them separated but still together. And it's so wonderfully realised. All the similarities where we can draw parallels to the books add a piquancy to the tale.

The instant attraction that Ron has for her followed by the almost instant annoyance she causes him is deftly done. Harry the peace-maker introduces himself in a far more friendlier manner. Ginny almost instantly getting along with her is good too.

As for poor old Ginny - her love for Harry was thwarted enough in the JKR books, you don't have to make it even harder for her. *sighs* Hopefully though, true love will out.

You hinted, no actually upon re-reading the first chapter again you outright said, that Hermione knew who her pen-pals were. Why didn't she mention that when she met them? Hmm, intriguing; you must have a reason, but I can't for the life of me work out what it is

As for Draco - slimeball.

It is also a wonderful interpretation of Dumbledore. He who could see further than most, could see that this trio was necessary, but it's formation was halted by fate and he has done his best to set it back on it's true and needed course.

The potential for drama is great. Between Ron and Hermione, between Harry and Hermione (as friends), Harry and Ginny, and Hermione and Draco. Though I do think that Hermione is well on her way to finding out the true nature of Draco Malfoy.

I am not going to read ahead, I'll read and review your chapters after you do the same for mine - that way we are discovering each others work fresh and at the same time.

There is a Pride and Pestillence, which is set in the Regency period and follows the setting of Pride and Prejudice (and lifts a choice phrase every now and then). It's still going though up-dates are infrequent.

I agree with your thought on the fan-fictions - they started as either filling in the gaps where the JKR books didn't go (due to the demands of her narrative) or they were a what-happens-next sort of deal. But most of those stories have been told and in a lot of cases told well. So the fan-fictions should be for fun and experimentation and this is what you've done here - a big, juicy what if.

Good stuff.

Author's Response: Thank you for another excellent review, very much appreciated :D Cannot wait for more of your story...and thanks for reminding me of mine! I'm rereading another story of mine right now, different uni (Peter Pan) and have some older Trixie Belden need to pay attention to. We're all writing a book for charity, one of our authors passing (cancer) suddenly.

Review #5, by oldershouldknowbetter Prologue

9th November 2014:
This is an interesting premise for a story.

Of course nothing much happens in this chapter except for the set up.

I like the way that fan fictions can play with the formatting of normal story telling. The info you dumped upon us about what Hermione did, via her pen-pal-ing was excellently done. We can see exactly the sort of influence she had upon the other two without anything more being said. We can re-evaluate their past stories with this in mind without you having to re-cover what we already know.

Good work, will read on.

Author's Response: Thank you for the lovely review back :D If I had read your comment first, before reviewing chapter 2, would have mentioned I recall at least one story a few years ago that was P&P Scorpius/Rose, but not sure it ever completed? Cannot recall, but might have it in my favorites if you want to know, unless know it already :D
Loved your perspective on fan fiction and my story :D Some people criticize and don't remember/know that that is what fan fiction is about! creativity and some of our own perspectives on the story, etc.

Review #19, by shadowkitty22 The Final Battle Part I

4th June 2009:
So I was cruising through the completed fics the other day and I happened to stumble upon this one, which I know I had been reading awhile back but never got around to finishing. So I figured I'd go ahead and finish it now that you're done (and yes I know I still have 2 more chapters to go at this point).

I like how you brought in a variety of creatures from the Forbidden Forest to have them fight in the final battle. The bubble transporter idea was pretty clever, even if it wasn't originally yours. But good job on giving credit where credit is due.

One thing I do have to mention though, is that "Black Friday" is typically thought of as the largest shopping day of the year and happens on the Friday after Thanksgiving...I'm sure you were angling for the whole gloom and doom effect with calling Friday the 13th, the day before Valentine's Day "Black Friday", but knowing it as a massive shopping day just didn't do it for me. Oh well.
