I really like how you manage to both humanize Lucius, but still remain true to his rather twistedly driven character. Very nicely written.

Author's Response: I think I sat and wrote this entire story in one sitting due to having it sent in on time for the contest submissions. I enjoyed writing this story very much, it was a nice departure from my regular fics.

omg i love it. i love the way you seem to use the characters JK Rowling created but at the same time make them your own. The insecurities of Lucius are cleverly wrapped around a deeper meaning that seems to make suggests of philosophy. I think this is brilliant and the controversial emotions running through Lucius is really well written. Well done

Author's Response: This story is quite different from what I normally write. The process of writing the story itself was actually quite interesting since part of the story sets its theme in paternal love and I'm definitely not a parent. I'm glad you enjoyed this story and thanks for the wondeful review!

Wow I loved it. Well, it was kind of sad though. But then again, Draco is a bad guy. But then again, again, he was just a kid raised by a really stupid father... I thought it was writen very well! In the begining, you did a great impression of Malfoy, mean, not caring. In the end, he was more soft and I dunno, more like a person.

Author's Response: Lucius was actually really hard to write because I had to show his softer side without making it really OOC. I'm glad you enjoyed reading the story and thanks for the review! =)

Okay, I'm sorry it too so long to get around to, but I absolutely loved it! I actually feel pity for old Lucius. The flashback was wonderful and this was extremely well written. Very well done! ~Gin~

Author's Response: That's alright, as long as you reviewed, I don't mind if you took a long time. Lucius was pretty hard to write, I had to show the fatherly side and the evil side at the same time, I'm glad it worked out though. Thanks for the review!=)

I did like this. I didn't cry like I thought I was going to, the emotions seemed ...almost...frozen. But being from Lucius's point of view I believed that worked well. Another thing, you still need the 's at the end of his name, even though it ends with an s. Nice story.

Prequale maybe?

Author's Response: Thanks for pointing out that even if Lucius's name ends with an 's', I still need to add the 's at the end. I actually never knew that, so I learned something new today. =) As for a prequel, I don't think I'll write one simply because this was a contest entry, so it was more of a 'one time' thing. I'll probably write more non-romance stories in the future though.

I'm not good with constructive criticism it's more like a stars out of 10 and I give it 7/10!

Author's Response: 7/10 sounds like an honest score, it would be a score that I would give myself as well. Thanks for your review! =D

Review #11, by lupinlove Saying Goodbye

16th July 2006:
first off, i would like to admit to having tears in my eyes as i write this. the flashback to draco's birth did it - it was extremely effective, and the constrast with his death was very well done. lucius's examining of his body was chilling as you wrote it so well - the way his features had experienced the wrong things and all. lucius's thoughts of killing others were horrible but accurate ... everything was just perfect. a beautiful and original one-shot :)

Author's Response: Thanks! =) This story was actually another one of my experimentations, Lucius' change of emotions and the contrast of Draco's death and his birth was what I decided to use to show the feeling of a person leaving life and never coming back. I'm glad it all worked out, thanks for the review!

12th July 2006:
Oh how sad! I really don't like reading about a death of a child and watching a parent have to mourn. Makes me want to cuddle forever with my kids!! But I loved how you got into the many emotions of Lucius. Great range!!

Author's Response: I actually felt a little weird when I was writing this because I'm not a parent myself so I had to think about the love a parent would feel for a child. Cuddling with your kids (if they're teens) all of a sudden may scare them, but hugs are always nice. =) Even if they're too afraid to admit it.

Wow, this is just absolutely amazing! It made me cry. And I also rarely review anything but after reading this, I just knew I had to. Keep up the good work!

Author's Response: Wow, this is my first try at something like this, I feel very honoured to be one of the few authors here that get one of your reviews. I may write more non-romance stories int he future. Thanks for your review!
