Well, this story brings back some wonderful memories for me. I play the trumpet at my High School, and my first ever solo was in a piece our Director put together entitled "Selections from the Phantom of the Opera" the opening scene was the auction (just as you described it). It reminded me of how proud I was to have that solo, and how much fun we had playing that piece. Thank you, and I love your story!
