Hufflepuff CtF Review

I like how you referred to the moon in the opening name just as “the celestial body.” The indirectness there indicates an aversion, kind of like that-in-the-sky-which-must-not-be-named

I wonder if Remus’ feverish symptoms have to do with his transformation, or if he’s also sick. Being both at once must be awful!

Ooooh maybe this is the first full moon when they all transform together! I normally go into short Remus stories expecting them to be very dark and hopeless, but perhaps this one is different! That’s good - Remus deserves some good times, and we deserve some happier Remus stories!

Oh, is this after the marauders sneaked Snape into discovering Remus? I suppose I never knew whether that was before or after they became animagi.

I’m really impressed that they were able to keep that a secret! And also very impressed that they were able to do the research and magic without Remus’ help.

I really like how you incorporate “run” into this story, first with Remus demanding that the others run away, and then with them having the freedom to run together ♥

Haha, Remus transformed just in time to not waste breath objecting to what was already done =P

Haha, the others promptly argueing about nicknames while Remus tries to be the (loudly) sensible one =P

HAHAHA James and Sirius shut up for a month, they are such self sacrificing friends =

This was super fun, and very refreshing for a Remus story! Nicely done.

Sam.

Author's Response: I always thought this would end up being the happiest period of Remus' life despite the inevitable conflict he would be feeling.
I think the marauders would almost always try to introduce humour to every situation, and would view this as an adventure as much as a way to help their friend. Bless them.
I also find the thought of them being unable to talk for a month hilarious :D :D :D
Thank you so much for the review xxx

Hello! I'm here for Round 5 of CTF.

Remus is one of my absolute favorite characters, so I'm always pleased to find a story that focuses on him. I really liked how you characterized him. I think he would feel very conflicted about his friends becoming animagi. On the one hand, it was incredibly kind for them to go to so much trouble to support him, and his transformations will definitely be less terrible now. On the other hand, they've found a way to get closer to him, and I suspect Remus tried to avoid letting people get close to him because he is so afraid of hurting them. Poor guy. *hugs remus*

I also love that he got so angry and they were taken aback because he's usually calm. I'm similar to Remus in that i rarely lose my temper, and when I do people act like *I've* turned into a werewolf. It's so annoying. I'm glad we got to see him being human and flawed.

Actually, you've characterized the other Marauders very well, too. Especially Sirius, who is always the most important in Remus-focused stories because #WolfstarForever ;) He has, as you even mention, that certain bravado and cavalier attitude that lends him charm. And mischief. We can't forget the mischief!

I really love the visual of a transformed Wormtail ridding on Sirius'/Padfoot's head. At least, I love it it I pretend that I don't hate Peter with an eternal and fiery rage haha

That's a nice specific original story for Prongs' nickname. I wonder how Remus will feel about being called Moony... I'm guessing he won't like it too much!

It's very interesting that Remus remembers his transformations more clearly when he's with the Marauders. I don't remember that from canon but it's cool.

Well done!

Author's Response: First of all yes: #wolfstarforever- I love that!!
Secondly- I loath Peter, the filthy treacherous rat.
I really thought Remus would be conflicted about this; he would be terrified of hurting his friends or that they would shun him, seeing him as a monster. Bless him :'( I think it would only be this that would make him lash out!!

Thanks again :)

THIS IS SO GREAT!!! LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!!!
I love the way you wrote the Marauders! They are all just... them! Each and every one of them! LOVED IT!!!

Poor Remus... you wrote the dread of the wait so beautifully. It broke my heart and it made me catch my breath in anticipation...
I could really feel his anguish. It's so sad but also so beautiful! And yes, knowing what's going to happen to him in a handful of seconds, knowing he has no mean to escape it and that he just has to endure it all... poor boy... :'(

But then the other three arrived, and Sirius opening his mouth it's all it takes to get a good laugh out of me! "We, being the geniuses we are..." I love it!!! :D

I loved every bit of it. Remus' panic, his useless protests, James and Sirius' cockiness, Peter's nervousness!!! Just great!!! :D

And then the waking up! And Remus' protests again. I loved when Peter repeated "But we did" even before Remus could finish. And then the first thought was food! Ah, Petey...

And I loved the nicknames part! And James' parents worrying because he and Sirius were too quiet! Great! Just great!

I know I already told you, but I love your sense of humour, and this was super funny and I adored it!!!

Thank you so much for swapping and for suggesting this story! You are awesome, my beautiful Sophie!

Tons of love,
Chiara

Author's Response: Well that's totally made my day!! I'm so glad you liked it. I absolutely adore writing the marauders all together. I just know that Sirius and James would be cocky about it, even though they know that Remus is scared and anxious.

I think it's the first time I've really written about one of his transformation like that- I don't think I've gone passed going to the shack and leaving it before so in that way it was a challenge.

I did start with them already using the nicknames until I realised they wouldn't have had them until after this point. But I did like the idea of James and Sirius trying to get around James' parents with their enforced silence, bless them.

Thank you so much for r&r ing. I totally loved your story too!

Lots of love and hugsm, lovely

Soph x
