Ooh, now that Freddie's getting serious about finding a real job that'll make him work harder, challenge himself, then maybe the Flying Instructor position is a right fit for him. Also, I love how Brie isn't done given up on Freddie... also, while I was reading them talking about the possibility of a relationship 'What If' by Colbie Caillat came on, which gives me hope that they'll find each other eventually. Loved this chapter... especially Cleo bludgeoning McLaggen over the head with a bludger like she had promised. Perfect. Even though I have no doubt that Demelza would have chosen James over McLaggen to play in the semis.

Hello!

Okay, I'm going to try and stop saying this was a great chapter in each of my reviews, because each chapter of this story is always great, so you know, it feels a bit redundant. And your story reminds me I am not eloquent :P

Carla's so perceptive when it comes to James, and she's much quicker than him I think. But I love the way that without ever making a big deal of it, you're showing how much more they're coming to mean to each other, how much closer they're becoming and the way that they're getting to know each other a lot better than previously. Their relationship is slowly growing and developing but it's not in a dramatic way, just natural, and it's really nice to read about.

Ha, I love Carlotta's sass. It was brilliant to see it make another appearance here and her put James in his place, telling him that he'll be lucky if she takes up his offer of visiting him abroad :P

Ah, it was nice to return to Ryan as well and be reminded of his feelings for Della. I can tell that you're getting towards the end of this story because all the plot lines seem to be wrapped up and it's great to see them all coming together. Look at James giving relationship advice ♥ I feel oddly proud of him, it's like he's getting all grown up and sensible. Ryan's offer with the Thunderers is great, although I can understand the fact it's with Della making it trickier to decide. He's right to wait till after the World Cup, I think, because that could just cause more stress and pressure. (Gasp! What if England and Ireland end up facing each other in the final?! *flails*)

George and Angelina have their priorities right, both wanting to get to go to the World Cup final. *nods*

Aw, Brigid and Freddie! ♥ I'm so glad that they're at least talking about this again and discussing the fact they have to sort something out. Freddie wanting her help with a CV was so sweet, and I love the way that they trust James not to listen but of course he eavesdrops anyway :P I get the feeling that Brie won't give up, much like James, but I'm not sure everything will work out quite as well for them as it has so far for James and Carlotta...

Sian :)

Author's Response: Haha, don't worry, I no speak good in reviews or responses either, so it's fine. I'M GLAD YOU LIKED THE CHAPTER.

Carlotta IS perceptive; it's one of the reasons why she's good for James. He doesn't always see things clearly, and he needs her to keep him stable. I absolutely ADORE her sass too. I wrote a squee-inducing James/Carla scene for chapter 62, and she just OOZES sassiness in it.

Ha, yeah, this is the bit where I go "ooh, I need to do something with that plot thread I weaved in x chapters ago". I knew the Ryan/Della would take a while to come to anything, so it's been quietly there in the background waiting for its moment. And this is it! James is being very grown up with his advice giving isn't he?

*gasp* England v Ireland potential indeed!

The Brie/Freddie resolution is the one I'm most excited for. Freddie's kind of beginning his own learning curve, much like the one James has been on but a few months behind. He's beginning to realise he needs to take control of his own life. James OBVIOUSLY eavesdrops. And they both know it. Naw I love my little trio. Thanks for reviewing!

Review #3, by Slide

Ha! Insightful Carla is insightful.

Curious about the whole Wizarding TV thing. I mean, it's not that outrageous considering the wizarding wireless exists, and it's bizarre how somehow magic can be LESS effective than technology (no mobile instantaneous communication devices, guys?), so I can see it happening eventually. I like to think it's a product of the war reducing the anti-Muggle backlash.

Yes international travel SHOULD be complex. Okay, so today I'm focusing on world building over characters and plot, APPARENTLY. Actually, scratch that, D'AWW Ryan and Della. Ryan. You are a sillyhead. A great big sillyhead. James gives good advice!

Oddly I think Ryan's not wrong to wait until after the World Cup. He's tense but he could wind up HEARTBROKEN, and so being professional is rather necessary.

Bwahaha, Cleo. And smart George and Angelina - everyone wants the final! I still want to see more of your Rose and Scorpius, unsurprisingly. Attagirl, being lured in by the Top Box.

Flee, James. FLEE the conversation. And - yes, eavesdrop, good boy. Laughed at the use of the Extendable Ear. Be dogged, Brigid. Then again, if he refuses to be loved, you can't force it! Give it a good try, your best shot, and then if he is intent on remaining a plonker, move on! Let us hope he does not remain a plonker, though.

Good stuff!

Author's Response: I should really be better at answering reviews.

The TV thing ... it's something I wasn't overly keen on doing, at first. I don't like stories where all of a sudden, Muggle stuff works in the wizarding world. But at the same time, the wizarding world clearly adapted wirelesses to work for them, so I don't see any reason why they couldn't eventually hop on the television bandwagon. They're not about to start producing films and whatnot though, it's just broadcasting news and Quidditch. And it probably wouldn't work at Hogwarts, because it's still a Muggle device, unlike with the wizarding wireless where they seem to have created their own version of a Muggle device.

Phones, of course, both landline and mobile, are still a completely Muggle device which witches and wizards are just becoming more willing to use as Muggle society infiltrates wizarding society more and more. And they CERTAINLY wouldn't work at Hogwarts.

I still like the thought of long-distance travel by Floo, with many pit-stops at pubs. Don't worry, I love hypothesising over this sort of stuff, so I am ALL OVER this kind of review.

Rose and Scorpius' storyline in Derailed ought to please you. Although I need to flesh things out a bit, the plot is still the bare bones. But that story is one of the main reasons I put them together, along with the scene earlier in this fic where Carlotta finds out about Muggle persecution. Maybe if you're lucky I'll feature them in a couple of chapters' time :)

Well James WOULD eavesdrop, wouldn't he? Freddie is being a bit of a plonker. Whether he remains so, is for me to know and you to find out ;) Thanks for reviewing!

brill chapter as usual :)

I really do like all your quidditch talk - it sounds really believable.

Can't wait to read more!

Author's Response: I'm really glad that you like the Quidditch, because I always get concerned about whether the balance is right. Hopefully it won't be too long a wait for the next chapter, thanks for reviewing!

25th January 2014:
Thanks for the update. I hope that Ryan can get his courage up to talk to her. And I am eager to see where James ends up. I'm happy that Brigid is finally done wallowing and pining, and while I admire her for being a great friend to support him after everything he has done to her, I really hope that Fred does more to earn back Brigid's trust and make her feel special as at this point I still think she's better off without him and that he hasn't really done enough to make up for all the hurt he caused. Can't wait for more.

Author's Response: Oh, Ryan. He deserves his happy ending, doesn't he? I'm really excited about where James goes after this, so to speak, so I'm looking forward to seeing what other people make of it! :)

Ah, Freddie. The trouble with him is he's not inclined to fight for Brigid at this stage because he really does believe she's better off without him, both because he doesn't think he's good enough for her in the first place and because he knows he was horrendous in the way he tried to put her off. He's apologised to her for what he did - this is the trouble with having their conversation from a few chapters' ago off-screen - but he doesn't believe in himself enough to fight, so he's not in the position where he's grovelling at her feet at every instance. She, on the other hand, sees more in him which is why she refuses to give up on him. He certainly owes her big style, though. I hope the way things are eventually resolved proves satisfactory. :) Thanks for reviewing!
