Well we all know Astoria will end up w Malfoy ew. I am just waiting to see how you will make that happen and just why she would chose him even if Terry died (which I suspect is going to be what happens)

Author's Response: Hello! :) I do plan on following canon, but there might be some twists and turns along the way. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing! :)

Poor Taurus :(

And oh my god that snake - definitely didn't see that coming! Great chapter!

Author's Response: Aw, I know! :( Taurus is in a tough situation considering his upbringing and Slytherin prejudices on top of coming to terms publicly with his identity.

Ahh, the snake!! So gross, right? Thanks so much for the great review!!! :D

Of course Peeves has to let the whole school know about Taurus' secret... Poor lad. Great chapter. Just when you think the chapter is coming to a quiet end, you put a dead snake in Tor's bed! Amazing story so far.

Author's Response: Aw, I know, poor Taurus. He's one of the good ones. I'm glad you liked the frightening ending as well and are still enjoying the story now that they're back at Hogwarts. Thanks for the review!! :)

22nd August 2013:
Hola!

I really liked the return to Hogwarts after the holidays, and I felt like it offered some light relief almost after the seriousness and danger in the last couple of chapters. It's quite sad that it's safer for Tor at school than at home when she's actually got a loving family. The part about Amaris getting her belly button pierced made me laugh; it helped to remind us that even though they seem to be growing up before their time, they really are just teenagers and they're going to do the 'rebellious' sort of things that all teenagers tend to do.

The fact that Pyxis and Tor have spent so much time together in the last two weeks really amused me - no matter how close you are, spending so much time with a friend can definitely get frustrating!

So, I may have already known about Taurus' secret, but before that I did think that there was something he was keeping from Tor... there were times when he seemed to want to tell people things and just didn't get the chance or couldn't find the words to reveal the secret. But here I felt so sorry for him! I suppose it's not necessarily the fact that he's gay which will cause the problems, but the fact that he's in love with a Muggle born. The way that he was confiding in Tor was really sweet - and I like the fact that he knows about her secret (the Muggle Studies lessons, at least) - and then of course they forgot to check for Peeves and he overheard the secret and spilled it to all the Slytherins. Personally I think you enjoy being mean to your characters a bit too much, but I'm going to forgive you because it makes a brilliant story and I can completely understand how fun it is :P

Anyway, back to Taurus' secret... I actually wasn't that surprised by Pyxis and Phin's reactions, because it's a pretty common reaction for boys of their age. I'm hoping that Pyxis might come round, but I wonder whether he will since he's been brought up as a Nott boy. I like how his story mirrors Tor's, and the fact that what has happened to him has shown her the implications that telling her secret might have. I don't think she'll be letting the cat out of the bag any time soon after that. I don't know where Taurus is, but I hope that he'll be okay!

The reunion with Terry was so cute! I liked the little jealous thoughts that Tor had in this chapter before she got to see him again - like the mention of the 'snog happy Leanne'. When they finally got to see each other again it was adorable! I wonder whether she'll ever confide in him what she saw at New Year's Eve, or if she has thought about the implications of what it means. He was so sweet with her when she got angry, and even though they're still in the kind of honeymoon period and have started showing each other another perspective, it'll be interesting to see them talking more and confiding more in each other in the future.

Oh goodness, Griz's Christmas present! It's brilliant and creepy at the same time - I don't blame Tor for closing the curtain so she doesn't have to look at the Goyles in her room. The image of Griz leering at Theo and Draco made me giggle too!

Eww, the dead snake! I don't think I've ever encountered one in real life, but the image was horrible here. At first I thought that maybe it had been Griz who had put it in her bed as some sort of revenge for the prank they pulled on her. I'm not sure though, because I think there's probably some symbolism to it. Dead snakes... hmm, does someone know about her secret? It could be Taurus, I suppose, but I don't think that he'd do something like that. After all, Tor wasn't the one responsible for spilling his secret, and really she was nothing but accepting of him. Could it be that someone else has found out and is threatening to tell her secret? I really don't know what it could be since I'm rubbish at predicting stuff like this!

Another wonderful chapter, my dear! So close to catching up now!!

Sian :)

Author's Response: Bonjour cherie! :)

Every time I go to respond to one of your incredible reviews I barely know how to start and do them justice. As always, thank you so so so much for taking the time to enjoy my story and give such wonderful feedback, you really are the best! :)

Okay, on to actually responding! I agree, the last chapters were so heavy and depressing that it was time to return to the more comfortable routine of Hogwarts. I agree, it does show how unstable Tor's life and family situation is no matter how loving her family is. Haha, I'm so glad you appreciated the bellybutton ring! I thought it was pretty typical of teenagers, and it helps to lighten these kids up a bit. I think of Pyxis and Tor of being a bit like cousins or siblings, so I don't blame them for needing a little break from each others' company!

Aha, you were so clever in picking up the hints about Taurus! I wanted to sort of subtly mirror the sort of struggle and prejudice a gay kid might have coming out with the prejudice against purebloods who fall in love with Muggleborns with Taurus, and how a boy loving another boy can be as natural and right as a pureblood loving a Muggleborn and the unfairness of the prejudice and hatred. So hopefully that came across okay! :) I felt sorry for revealing Taurus' secret that way too, and for it to serve as a warning for Tor, but yes, I am a little unfair on my poor characters!

Yes, Pyxis is a little unpredictable this way. While he's very close to Tor and they have similar personalities in many ways, he's also guilty of falling victim to peer pressure. And yes, Taurus' exposure is definitely a wakeup call for Tor... just wait until I finally get Chapter 28 out, it's pretty much straight angst and indecision on Tor' part! :P

I'm glad you liked the reunion! Terry is so patient, and handles Tor's mood swings and confusion very well I think. I agree, and there will be more talking - and angst, what else! - in the future.

Ha! Griz and her strange possessions are so creepy but fun to think of. Griz is hilarious, if a little one-dimensional. And yes, I just think dead snakes are the most disgusting things ever! And yes, there is some symbolism, and I love your speculations about who might of put it there!

Thank you so much for another amazing review!!! :D I'm off to respond to the next one now, and then I'll be all caught up with responding to them as well!

Review #5, by marauderfan

28th June 2013:
Ooh, Taurus! He hasn't really been much of a character before now - kind of just sidekick stock character, but I have so much more respect for him now. I think he's the sort of person Tor could confide in - well, depending on how Taurus reacts to hearing his love life spread all around Hogwarts.

I always thought it would be really difficult for an LGBTQ student to come out during the war, particularly a Slytherin because they (especially the purebloods) are so focused on being proper and traditional and generally narrow minded. So I think it speaks volumes about Taurus, first of all that he loves a Hufflepuff guy who's also a Mudblood (three points against him, in the world of the pureblood fanatics), and that he was able to tell Tor about it. He's clearly in the same boat as Tor as far as having his pureblood opinions challenged. I really hope Tor tells him her own secret.

Unless of course the whole thing was a lie and an elaborate setup to try and pry information from Tor, but I'm really hoping it's not.

The reunion with Terry was great. I love how you show how happy he makes her - the Christmas chapters were so dark and devoid of hope, but now that she's back with Terry the mood of the chapter is much happier!

Author's Response: Hello! I had wanted to reveal Taurus' secret and give him a stronger role in the story much earlier, but there was never quite a good time. I'm so pleased you respect him, and like him as a character, although difficult times for him are definitely coming up. :(

I know, he's in such a tough situation, and I like thinking about him struggling through the same battles Tor has over the past half-year, in this kind of lonely turmoil and challenging of values. It definitely made Tor feel connected to someone, but also showed her the danger and how easily everything can go downhill. I think it would be so hard to come out as well, especially for the Slytherins with traditional pureblood parents. Taurus' parents aren't DEs, but certainly far from being open-minded.

Haha, interesting theory! :P

Aw, I know, I felt so excited for them to be reunited! They're so sweet together and really deserve this time before things get more hectic and dangerous. I'm glad you liked the change in mood, as dramatic as the Christmas chapters were I mostly enjoy writing them at Hogwarts! Thank you so much for this and all the other reviews! :)

Review #6, by marauder5

17th June 2013:
I'm loving this short queue!! :D I can't believe I get to read the next chapter so soon!

I think that what I enjoyed the most about this chapter was the change in environment - the mood is more similar to that of the first couple of chapters; she's in school, with her friends, and she's more of a normal teenager than anything else. While I have absolutely loved the last couple of chapters as well, I thought it was a great change to keep the story from getting repetitive. It's just perfect! After the horror and darkness over Christmas and New Years, it was nice to get to laugh a little again (although, of course, there's still a lot of drama, which I love!). This was the first comment that made me laugh, that I just loved:
' "What made you decide to mutilate your body?" Taurus comments drily. Pyxis gives him a dirty look, as if defending the belly button ring's honour.'

Got to love Pyxis!!

As for Taurus' secret, I hadn't suspected anything before. But now I feel so bad for him - why, Peeves, why?? Tor might have considered opening up to him, as well, but I doubt that she'll do it now that she's seen where it got him. I'm glad she stood up for him, but I was so angry with Pyxis and Phin! Well, there goes my hope that Pyxis will be supportive (at least a little bit) about Tor and Terry.

Speaking of Tor and Terry, their reunion was adorable! To be honest, I felt a bit like I was the one who was going to meet my boyfriend after some time apart when I read it, that's how exited I was for them. And he was just so sweet. I love that he didn't get mad with her when she snapped at him. He's just such a great guy, isn't he?

And for your last question (or first one, technically, but you know what I mean), my first thought about the dead snake was that it had to be the work of Griz Goyle. But then I thought about the symbolism of it all. A dead snake. Snake, the Slytherin symbol. I am now convinced that someone knows her secret, and that they think that she's a disgrace for Slytherin because of it. I suppose it could also be Taurus, blaming her in a way for what he's going through now. Or maybe HE found out about her and Terry, and he's furious because he confided in her but she didn't do the same thing? Well, I don't know. My other guess is Daphne, because she found out, and she thinks that her sister is a disgrace for the family and and the Slytherin house. Or something like that. Well, as ever, I look forward to reading the next installment. Thank you for this wonderful story - I just adore it so much! It has so many dimensions to it - it's beautifully written, dark, scary at times, and also humorous and romantic and a whole bunch of other things that I can't think of right now. I hope you know how good it is, and that you're really proud of it! :)

Author's Response: Hello again! :D I know, the short queue is awesome, and I'm always excited to update for you people who like this story!

I'm glad you liked the shift in the mood and that it brought back the teenage mood of the story! The realms of DEs and Hogwarts are very separate for Tor, and it felt right that the tone of the story would change as well.

I'm glad you liked the line about the belly button, I love Pyxis too! He's just such a... boy. I'm happy there was some humour here as well! :)

I know, poor Taurus! :( These kids really can't catch a break eh? You're right, I think Tor will think twice about sharing her secret, no matter how hard it weighs on her. I know, the boys really didn't handle it well, but then again they still have time and they were acting tough in front of each other. Don't lose faith in Pyxis yet! :)

Aw! I'm so glad you liked the reunion, I really enjoyed writing it! They're just so sweet together, though of course Tor had to go ahead and ruin it. Terry is very practical and level-headed, and good at keeping his temper when others are upset... unlike Tor, who just gets angrier. They do complement each other quite well in that way.

I love all your speculations about the symbolism! :) Of course I can't say anything, but those are all excellent guesses and thoughts, and I really enjoy reading your thoughts! :D

I'm so very happy that you're loving the story, it makes me really happy to read all your incredible reviews, and really keeps me going with this! :D You're so encouraging and wonderful, and it makes me so thrilled every time I see another lovely review! :)
