AHHH! James's replacement on England's team has a serious case of dragon pox... YES! I'm crossing my fingers that Demelza Robbins calls James up and offers his spot back. I think Kiera (being the Chasers' coach for England) may have told Demelza about James's pep talk with their beater reserve before the Kestral match because James caught Kiera watching him intently. Please... I so hope James gets his chance back. He's really taken a new leaf since he rejoined the Falcons. He deserves to play in the World Cup.

Review #2, by Penelope Inkwell

Aww, I loved the dance scene--getting to see Lily so well-loved at school, and James showing his sweet side. Of course, he does that quite often, but it's just particularly cute beside his sister and her friends.

And Wadcock has dragon pox! Even in a fictional setting, I feel bad about being happy for that...but, sort of still am. Great, I'm horrible. My morals have been completely tossed aside. Ah, well. Sports are cutthroat--even fictional magical ones. I suppose I'll have to put aside my dark night of the soul to CHEER JAMES ON WHEN HE PLAYS IN THE WORLD CUP BECAUSE YAY!!!

Still sorry about the pox, though. Sending a virtual get-well card to Wadcock, mentally you know. Just get well...later. Oh, I AM awful. Look what your characters are turning me into! Just look!

Author's Response: James is such a cutie when he's being all big-brotherly. I do like writing scenes with his family, because I think that's when he really shines.

I felt so bad giving Wadcock dragon pox. Poor guy! If I was actually NICE I'd have given it to McLaggen ... but I get my kicks from writing about McLaggen, so I wasn't about to write him out of the picture. Thanks for reviewing :)

Oh yeah, the dance! Huzzah! All fair considerations from poor Kit about the extended people who find out about the magical world. So, parents and siblings and really close people know. But what about the further ones? It gets complicated! And Cato is an adorable big lug.

James feeling old at twenty-one. It happens to us all. *pats* Have a drink and you'll feel better. Harsh accusation at Maddie re: seating! But she has a point. And also it's her god-given right to sit between two handsome Quidditch players if she wants to! Oh, it's been months since I read a Maddie chapter. I love her again (get in there with Cato, my girl).

Girly awards - this is gonna get cruel. Lily's a darling, of course, in how she handles it. Who wouldn't laugh at egg on Rosalind's face? And I just snorted coffee at the image of Maddie wearing her prizes. This coffee is precious to me!!

*reads on. Reads about Maddie drinking wine through a snorkel. Puts down coffee*

And now I have ALL THE FEELS on James and Lily. I do love Lily and her little entourage, it's just such an awesome 'side' plot (I know you don't treat it as a side-plot, but it comes after Quidditch and Carla), and it breathes so naturally as a story and with such natural characters.

Oh noes, St Mungo's and Leggy Allegra strikes back. With... kindness. Weird striking there. But good on you, girl.

Hm. I did anticipate this. There was no way we'd set up a World Cup JUST for James to lose it, or rather, not with this pacing. If he was going to miss out, the World Cup would have happened during his breakdown so he witnessed what he missed. But with it up ahead...!

I smell an England sign-up.

Author's Response: A reminder that it's immensely difficult, being Lily, and having to judge where to draw the line when it comes to letting people know THE biggest secret it's possible to have. Not just a throwaway discussion, this will become relevant in the sequel too.

I project A LOT on James when it comes to feeling old. Mostly encouraged by seeing the uni newbies out EVERY night and wondering how their heads and livers can take it, and wistfully reminiscing about how I did the same three years ago. He's not old at all, of course he's not. But it's depressing when younger people seem to be able to handle far more alcohol!

Maddie basically took control when I was writing this chapter, and demanded all the attention. I hope no coffee was lost in the reading of this chapter.

Leggy Allegra isn't the type of person to fight fire with fire, she's a sweetie. And tells James what he needs to hear. I have big plans for her!

I am unlikely to insert a World Cup and not have my main character involved. Cheers for the review :)

The dragon pox?! Does this mean what I think it does? Does James have a chance of getting back on the England team now that Joshua Wadcock has the dragon pox? Okay, that has made me quite confused, because the last chapter made me think something completely different was going to happen...

The school dance was so cute, and I really enjoyed reading this chapter. James and Lily have a really cute brother/sister relationship and it's nice to see them spending time together. And it was so sweet that Lily saved the last dance for her older brother, when he was worried he wouldn't get a chance to dance with her!

Lily is such a brilliant character. The hand she's been dealt is really horrible (it can't be easy as a Squib growing up with all the other Weasleys) but it's great to see that she's made the best of her situation and is thriving with her friends. She's so modest as well - definitely the sort of person I'd want to be friends with, especially since I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of her!

The awards made me laugh a lot. It reminds me of the same sorts of awards we got when I left school, although our accessories were nowhere near as funny as the ones that the girls got here. Maddie with her snorkel!

And Leggy Allegra came back! I actually really liked her when she was in this story before, because she did seem different to most of the other girls that James seemed to attract. She's definitely not someone that fits into the bimbo category, anyway. I love the fact that you add some depth to minor characters, and that we found out more about her and her background and thoughts. Hopefully it helped James to realise that not everyone has always been after him because of his father's fame or his own. I hope Allegra appears in this story again, because I can imagine her being a good friend, and even getting on with Carlotta.

That ending - it's not exactly a cliff hanger, but you've left me so curious about what's going to happen next and how events are going to unfold now!

Sian :)

Author's Response: I loved writing the school dance. It wasn't necessarily important to the plot, but it was nice to give James and Lily some sibling time. And of course she saved her last dance for him. :) My own school prom had those kinds of awards and tongue-in-cheek presents - and actually, the 'most vain' moment was completely lifted from my own prom, right down to the winner refusing to get up to collect her prize. But yes, Maddie and her snorkel made me laugh a little as I wrote it. :)

Allegra is indeed back! I'm glad you like her, because she'll be more important in the sequel (so yes, she will be appearing again! I'm not sure how much she'll feature in the rest of this fic though, but she's VERY important in the next one so hopefully that makes up for it). She's a genuinely nice person who tells James something that he really needs to hear.

DRAGON POX. James' future really is up in the air right now, isn't it? Tee hee. Thanks for reviewing!

Hello, it's me again :) I've returned to tell you you're amazing. I loved this chapter (I mean I love pretty much every chapter you write but still). The school dance thing was nice, Cato as eye candy, I can totally imagine that. It was so cute.
And oh my days the dragon pox??? What is this??? are you trying to kill everyone or something? I was looking forward to that happy ending but you are slowly making that seem less and less likely!
It was also good to see the reappearance of Leggy Allegra, I was actually wondering the other day if she'd turn up again. You write her really well!
Ok well that's all from me, except that you write amazingly and I can't wait to read the next chapter!
Happy Writing :)
~Char

Author's Response: Glad you liked the school dance inclusion. It didn't necessarily serve a particular purpose, but I wanted to write it in anyway. Besides, it gives James and Lily some time together :)

Dragon pox is most definitely not my way of killing off all hopes of a happy ending! Au contraire ;) Allegra is actually one of my favourite characters, I have a sequel planned for this and she has a larger role in that. I'm really glad you like her. :) Thanks for reviewing!
