I love their bantering and humor. It's like they have known each other for years instead of less than a week.

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing :)

5th March 2015:
Despite the inclusion of the more drinking, partying, and innuendo this chapter was something of a change of pace in one major regard - the reactions of James's friends and family to the situation with Carlotta. Now, I'll have to confess straight out that I'm more on James's side. Statute of Secrecy or not, there really doesn't seem to be a problem with dating a muggle for witches and wizards. It's clear that plenty have done it over the years to no ill-effects. While I grant you that none may have been as famous as James, and accordingly, perhaps not as vulnerable (at least financially, but perhaps in additional ways), I don't really see what the big deal is.

I was right before though - smitten is definitely correct. James is all about Carlotta and it's nice to see that it appears to be partially for the right reasons - a matching sensor of humor, desire for adventure, and lack of fear when it comes to standing up to or interacting with him.

Well done!

Author's Response: This fic made me think about the Statute of Secrecy more than ever before - and it really does put witches and wizards who get involved with Muggles into a terribly difficult position. The two examples that come to mind off the top of my head are McGonagall's parents and - more recently - Seamus' parents; it seems as though the magical parent doesn't even tell their muggle spouse about magic until they simply can't put it off any more. Oddly secretive when they've committed to marriage with said muggle, and also it puts the muggle in a very awkward situation when it emerges that their magical spouse has kept such an integral secret from them for so long. In fact it makes you wonder how one can keep a magical lifestyle secret for so long...

Anyway, ramble over. I guess society is very different now, with marriages far less common, and so it's even MORE awkward for a magical person to decide at what point a relationship IS the real deal and the secret can be shared. At this point in time, James certainly isn't thinking about settling down with this girl, but it's difficult to keep your entire lifestyle a secret. And I would imagine the big deal is to do with whether you can trust said Muggle to keep the wizarding world secret? And that's AFTER you've overcome the situation of whether your Muggle has taken the news well. If it ends the relationship, I'd imagine there's a risk that said Muggle could talk - but then, as the Muggle Prime Minister in HBP mused, who'd believe them?

I just rambled even more. WHOOPS. Thanks for reviewing!

YAY more Carlotta! This chapter made me really happy! I loved seeing more interactions between Carlotta and James. I think that they are super cute and really fun to read. They compliment each other in a way and both seem to be on board with this being nothing serious. Although I hope that things do change. I loved seeing the interactions between everyone. They all have such different relationships with each other and its just really fun to see all of the dynamics. And while this chapter had a lot of conversation, I didn't feel that it was overbearing at all. Though I do feel that sprinkling in a little bit more description here and there would be nice. Such as what they look like and are wearing, maybe more about what the club looks like, anything like that would help the reader to really get in the atmosphere of the story better. Over all though, this was another really great chapter and I enjoyed it a lot! Great Job!

Author's Response: James and Carlotta just bounce off each other here, don't they? You're right; they do compliment each other fairly well. Aha, yes, the description. You've hit my Achilles heel there I'm afraid, description is where I fall down somewhat! I have a half-excuse here, in that James isn't all that likely to notice things like clothing and surroundings, but all the same I do realise I'm a bit sparse on that kind of thing, and it's something I'll take on board for future projects. :) Thanks for reviewing!

Or am I?

"Rose snorted in an unladylike fashion. Well, she was her father's daughter." Muaha. Cutie Rosie Posie. I believe it. I bet she belches louder than all the boys, too. Did I miss before that Albus is an Auror-in-training? Dawrh. Of course he is.

Poor James. All his kinfolk ragging on him for getting with a Muggle. :( Hush, sibling-cousin-folk! Carlotta the Muggle is totally cool. Though I do understand their concerns, especially since James isn't the most careful and subtle type. I'm sure they're all very worried that he's going to slip up and have to obliviate the poor girl's head. o.o I hope that doesn't happen. o.O

James' opinion of Muggle music is amusing. Clearly he isn't listening to the right bands. "Do you have any friends that aren't cousins or in love with them?" Excellent question, Carlotta. I believe the answer is no.

James getting jealous about Carlotta's attention to Albus and his attractiveness is adorable. Heh heh.

Gasp. Carlotta wants to own a restaurant. I think that's marvelous. DO IT, CARLOTTA. I already want her to have everything her heart desires, 'cos she's cool and I like her lots. Ooh, and more Carlotta/Jamesies time. >:] Danger, James Potter, danger. I see a break in your usual routine. Or maybe not. I don't even know. Wonderful chapter!

Author's Response: True story, when writing this chapter I sat there for ages thinking "What name could James say that Albus has, which would legitimately shorten to Al?" Albert was the only one I could come up with. Months, MONTHS later, I realised Alexander would have fitted the bill. I worry about myself sometimes. However, I think James' (my :P) total lapse makes the situation that bit more amusing, so all's well that ends well.

Rose is definitely a full-blown mixture of Hermione and Ron. And I believe this is the introduction of her and Albus' jobs, so no, you did not miss that before. :)

James' opinion of Muggle music is pretty much the opinion I think any 21 year old male would have on their first encounter with such a genre of music as the '90s British pop I envisioned this scene as having. I'd like to think that some day he will gain an education in Good Muggle Music. Although I think Muggle Studies ought to teach that.

Carlotta does indeed have a big goal. And a lot of sass. And a bit of a hold on James, perhaps? Thanks for reviewing!

Jumping off the Quidditch hoops without a brook. James Sirius really does channel his namesakes, doesn't he? And it's nice to see some more of Al and Rose.

Ah-ha! Yes, it makes sense for the wizarding world to become more Muggle-esque in the aftermath of the war. But James clearly has no soul if he doesn't appreciate a bit of Bryan Adams in his (drunken) life.

He poured away mead. I was right. Soulless.

Author's Response: I try to get a good balance of cousins. Naturally Freddie will feature most, and Molly least, but on the whole they all have their moments in the spotlight.

I don't think James would be TOO averse to Bryan Adams. I think the kind of things playing at this cheese night would be more like S Club 7 and Blue type music, maybe even a bit of Aqua thrown in. The kind of music I LOVE when a bit tiddly, but James would think it beneath him.

He poured away mead to have sexy times. He just has his priorities in a particular order, and a bucketload of mead to boot.

pffft Albert! But really, what else is there for Al? And I seriously like Carlotta.

Author's Response: Albert. Bless him. :) Thanks again!
