I loved this!!! I could just imagine this happening. I always wondered how Minerva would feel after the battle. I'm glad to see she went to visit with Dumbledore's portrait. I love stories that pertain to after the battle. Yours is a great one. I enjoyed it emensely. Great job.

An interesting little story of the aftermath. I loved the discussion between McGonagall and Dumbledore. I suspect that Minerva will always seek her old friend's advice.
There are a couple of typos, nothing serious, but "co-worker" is an american expression, I have colleagues at work, not co-workers. To my english eyes that word seems a little strange, but really, that's the only criticismm I have, and you were unlikely to know that.

This is very well written, although I find Dumbledore to be a little out of character. Not in a bad way though, just deviant from canon.

But seriously - sending everyone straight back to school after the weekend? I would have given them an early summer!

The title of this story couldn't be more perfect. I had always imagined that the restoration of Hogwarts would take a few months to do or at least a whole summer. Also, didn't the final battle take place in early June? This might be an assumption of mine. I kind of grouped it along with the rest of the big events that happens at the end of every Harry Potter book. They always seemed to conveniently happen very near too or after the end of the school year, didn't they?

In any case, I do believe that McGonagall would have had the school up and running again as fast as she could, so if it could be done in a week than she would have it done. The conversation between her and Albus' portrait was bittersweet, I thought. She was glad to talk to him, but he is just a portrait now...

Initially I was thinking that the McGonagall you penned here was a touch out of character when she says that she doesn't know what to do next. But I only know McGonagall through Harry's eyes, and to him she did always know what was going on and what the right/next thing to do would be. I need to just clear my head and try again to see that it's very possible that she did feel the way that you've described her.

In any case, she would definitely feel the proudness that you described concerning house unity. I have no doubt there. All in all, I think you did a great job with this story. Only a couple of typos, I think(For example, you had 'ture' instead of 'true'). Nice job!

Review #5, by In The Shadows I Dwell

20th August 2010:
This is the first fic that I have read that focuses upon the restoration of Hogwarts and it's actually really refreshing to see, because technically it is part of the war, perhaps one of the hardest parts and I believe McGonagall was the perfect character to see this through. She does prove time and time again to be a character of tremendous strength, yet in this she is allowed a moment of weakness which to me was brilliant as it showed her to be human, as she too was left affected by this war, her best friend had died and many of her students, past and present had also been killed. It is hard to expect her to be entirely strong in the face of all this.

You have portrayed her excellently, humanly and in every sense right in character. She is one of those people you expect to be a source of strength for Hogwarts and it's students in the future following the battle and the last line really highlights her dedication to this task. I would like to commend you on writing such a brilliant little piece which had so much emotion and so much packed into such a short piece I could barely get my head around it all! Keep up the good work!

Yay restoration! I always love Minerva, as strict as she was. She was so full of pride for her students and was always just looking out for the best in them. And, as always, Dumbledore is quite wise.

Lovely story!

I've always liked McGonagall and that's partly because she sometimes shows different sides from her normal stern and effective side. In this story you show that very well. She has something softer under that shell of hers and it only makes her better. Like we see here McGonagall is a great headmistress and I would say one of the best. You did a great job writing about her.
