Ha! this is hilarious! I love Sir Cadogan!
He's crazy and I can't believe he distracted Seamus, I bet Seamus was so confused and think "what on earth?" a lot. That must have been so distracting to have. And Sir Cadogan impressing a lady with his yelling. Bless him.
Trust him to be the crazy person in the fight, and challenging people he wouldn't be able to fight.
Wonderful one shot! made me laugh a lot!

How bizarre - two Sir Cadogan stories in a row! Still, they are decidedly different, and this was definitely a fun one to read. You've really captured all that is ridiculous about sir Cadogan, and yet made him a little lovable too. I adore the idea of him trying to impress the other portrait, and particularly as he does so by yelling random encouragements! Very funny, but also very true to the books.

That last line cracks me up too - not sure exactly what he's basing that assurance on, but it's nice to see that his complete lack of usefulness doesn't get in the way of his self-belief!

Fun story, thanks for posting!

Review #4, by In The Shadows I Dwell

20th August 2010:
I was laughing so strangely at the last line, that was just so... Well, so Sir Cadogan. It seemed to fit his strange and often highly annoying personality. Although, perhaps it's probably as I can imagine him actually saying that to the back of someone who has fought a real battle right before his eyes. I particularly also liked Seamus's response to the knight, he seemed to have the same opinion of Sir Cadogan as I did! However, I doubt anything else is to be expected.

Despite the darkness of the overall situation you've managed to show something a little lighter in there, perhaps even slightly humorous, well that's how I took it. It was a nice little piece to read after a lot of battle pieces. Keep up the great work!

This was great. I loved Seamus' reaction to Sir Cadogan's distractions. But the best part had to be this:

"He also wouldn't mind impressing the lovely Damara Dodderidge, who he had noticed some time earlier was following him around the castle"

That cracked me up! SC has a love interest? Great flourish.

Hahaha Sir Cadogan is always so humourous to read about! I thought that your characterisation of him was spot on. I loved how even in the battle, he was winking at this Damara Dodderidge and trying to impress her. It's funny that because of Sir Cadogan's shouting, Seamus got hexed. I loved your first paragraph - being a knight, he would've definitely resented not actually fighting... And Sir Cadogan thinking that he is the best knight, is just so Sir Cadogan!

An enjoyable read of a well written story!

This is one of the few Battle stories that have made me laugh. But then, what else do you expect from Sir Cadogan. I wonder what damara was whispering to the other portrait "that fat old idiot is following me" probably.
One nitpick (because, being British, I have to) a knight of the realm is never, ever, Sir "Surname" always Sir "Forename" so Sir Seamus, not Sir Finnegan.
