Go Neville! This is a very different take on the story to Northumbrian's but I like them both. While in his, the focus is always on taking out the snake, yours has Neville focussing on keeping the war going. I like that he doesn't put himself forward to win, but to encourage, and thus lead in a way that their side really needed.

I love the little exchange between the hat and Neville - he really had proved himself to be the very essence of a Gryffindor, and thus the hat's words fit well. I also love Neville's reactions to Voldemort and Bellatrix - the anger and defiance that fit so well with what we know Neville's actions to have been.

I do love Neville, he is such a brilliant character and so much lurks beneath the surface with him. He is just one of those characters I can't help but love and admire for his strength and his determination, not to mention his courage. You have portrayed him perfectly within character, his thoughts, his feelings all were rational and entirely believable. The quotes too were good choices, highlighting both Voldemort's cruelty and Neville's somewhat previously hidden courage.

We see a side of Neville we rarely get to see in this chapter, and you've managed to capture these moments perfectly, right down to Voldemort's anger as he watches the last of his known Horcruxes falling. Well done on a brilliantly written piece!

Mel, this was a perfect Neville, POV. I loved the way you got into his head here. The self doubt, the despair and then the rock solid determination that someone had to do somthing and it might as well be him. You wove this all into the canon dialogue wonderfully.

The final flourish with his Gran standing by his side was excellent.

Like this alot.

So, I can FEEL that pride that Neville's feeling, and I love it!

This is the first Neville-type collab. fic that I've read, and I don't know how any others will be able to measure up to this one. His thoughts were so real and not fanciful. By that I mean that while Neville completely supported Harry and everything that meant getting rid of Voldemort, he still harboured that bit of bitter doubt that any normal person who didn't know what Harry was up to would harbour. After all, to Neville it would have seemed like Harry was just in hiding or something like that.

I think that's a good point to remember, because when Harry came back they expected him to want to fight as if he'd been off preparing for exactly that. So thank you for adding that in.

It was good to see into the moment when the Sorting Hat is on Neville's head, too. He was encouraged by the hat, who had seen ever since day 1 that Neville had this kind of power in him. And the finally line from his grandmother was so nice that I even bristled a bit. That's all Neville ever wanted in his life, to make his parents and grandmother proud.

Thank you for letting me take a glimpse into Neville's mind, I enjoyed it very much!
