Another honest and realistic take on a moment in war. I love how this character doesn't consider herself brave, and yet her actions are everything that bravery means - doing what's right despite being terrified! She makes the hard decision, but then does what she can to feel secure at the same time, which is I think what we would all choose to do in the situation.

A simple plot line and concept, but really well written, and thus a highly enjoyable read!

Well. Mandy Brocklehurst is possibly one of the most underrepresented canon HP characters in fanfiction, but this was a great story and it told her tale really well. I particularly liked how she reflected that Ravenclaw Tower was no longer the safe haven it had always been, but instead was a battle zone, the same as everywhere else in the school. I wonder if she felt, though, that it was THEIR battle zone still - reserved for Ravenclaws, or now open to the masses. It's an interesting concept. The way the room gave her strength was great - the way we draw inspiration from what is familiar and safe. All in all a fantastic effort.

cheers, Mel

Wow. What a great story. I loved your first line. The idea of destroying your home seems pretty terrible. And I love Mandy's characterisation. I love how even though she's terrified, she realises that she's doing the right thing. The ending was sweet as well. It's hard to describe, but everything in your story flows wonderfully, and every line contributes to the story. Every line is so well crafted that together, it comes together as a brilliant story! Well written, and an interesting and enjoyable read!

FLITWICK! Ah. I love him. I'm so glad you popped him into the end your story. Anyway, I think was really well written. I couldn't find anything wrong with it, actually. I didn't notice a single spelling or grammatical error and it flowed really nicely throughout the story. I think you've done a very good job with bringing this minor character to light. Well done.
