Really choked up now. This was very sad, and very lovely. I just adore the bit about how the right thing isn't always the grandest or bravest - at the end of the day, what Colin did was brave, but it is good that at least Dennis survived for his parents.

Colin's death has always been a really sad one in canon, and this amped it up no end. The light at the end of the tunnel literally made me get a lump in my throat, particularly with the misplaced hope that Dennis then tries to convince himself of. And Colin's final line too - "tell them I'm coming home soon"... yup, actually crying.

This really is well written, and very sad. Lovely stuff, if you know what I mean!

T-T This was so sad! It was beautifully written and just so powerful. It was wonderful to see the interaction between these two cahracters and I think you wrote it just like JK would have seen it. Very nice. Sad, but very nice. I enjoyed the bit about the light at the end of the tunnel, it kept him Muggle-born like, ya'know? I doubt that Purebloods would make that referrence so it was very canon. :D --Jenna

It must've been so awful for Dennis, waiting to see if this brother was going to come back and realizing he never would. In this fic, he seems to know Colin won't be coming home like he promised, and I don't know which way is more sad.

This was well-written and kept Colin and Dennis about as in-character as you can make two minor characters in the midst of battle. I maybe would have expected a little playfulness between them, one of them trying to lighten the mood, but then it is a grave situation they're in. We're not used to seeing Colin and Dennis stuck in the middle of such serious moments, so who knows how they'd act?

Lovely perspective on their own part of the Final Battle. :)
