Oh how I hate Zacharias! Although I am glad that he's going back to fight! even if it did take Colin to call him a coward to do it.
I'm so glad that you conveyed Zacahrias the way that you did, it really shows just how rude and cowardly of a person he is. You've portrayed him beautifully!:-D
I really hope he done some good though.

This is a great story - both in concept and in execution. At the start we completely believe he's going to do the sensible thing and leave, and yet by the end, we completely believe his turnabout and decision to fight.

After so many stories focussing on the brave and determined, it's nice to read about someone fighting more because of wounded pride and with reluctance, which I personally can relate to better anyway (and I call myself a Gryffindor!) This makes the piece very relate-able and believable.

The final line is simply brilliant - even when he's back, he doesn't think it was the right thing to do, and he's honest enough about what he's facing to know that he might not survive. Great twist on a commonly used phrase!

Ooh, I loved this! Such a unique perspective at the war. A few collab fics have featured Collin, but none yet I've read have Zacharias Smith! So this was really interesting. I loved the characterisation, for both characters they were perfect. This is so Zacharias Smith, "He had a fleeting desire to stop and help a small first year boy he recognized from his own house, but quickly shook off the feeling and continued pushing his way through."

It's quite a simple plot, but the way you wrote it is commendable! I loved the ending too, "I hope I live to regret this" - quite a powerful line. And obviously I love how Zacharias goes back simply because of his pride! Loved the story! :)

I really thought he was going to leave! I did! I love that you picked him, we never saw much from the books on him. I like your portrayal. I know that a lot of people might call him a coward and such, but he's only 17. That may be of age, but not everyone has the same reasons for fighting like Harry. It is only natural to be afraid. --Jenna

I really liked this--Zacharias is usually a character the irks me beyond belief, but you've made him readable and likable. ;) The situation that makes him run back to Hogwarts is believable--someone like him would definitely feel the need to protect their pride. I really liked Colin, too--he really came across like a Gryffindor. The line about not being sorted into Ravenclaw near the end was hilarious, and though I'm not sure it's supposed to be, "I hope I live to regret this" was, as well.

This was very well-written and enjoyable. :)

Okay. I really liked this. Your characterizations were simply flawless. Colin and Zacharias were exactly how they should be. No mistakes in sight. I liked the portrayal of Colin's bravery and then the peer pressure that got Zacharias to join in, as well. I think that was really awesome. Very well done.
