Sorry I have this thing with endings as I have said numerous times. Your ending is amazing.

It is so Filch and it brings the reader back to a happier time in the series. With all the jokes about Filch. Truly great way to end this which I wasn't expecting at all. (They way you wrote it not that it was so great.)

Awww, I just love these stories which focus on the unsung heroes - those who might be forgiven for avoiding the battle altogether, and eyt are willing to do their part.

This one in particular is great though, as it doubles up as a great insight into the mind of an often villified character. We as readers never really think about why Filch is how he is, we just put it down to spite and jealousy. The idea that it's more about yearning to swap places, and feeling that the students waste the gift they've been given, really changes how I see Filch overall. It also fits with canon so well as to make me think this might have been JKR's view all along.

Great story, and fantastic final line - he may be risking his life to help, but he's still Filch!

Your characterization of Filch was really good here--especially that last sentence, I love it! xD I also thought that the parts where he's lamenting about being a Squib and the Kwikspell Course were very well done and rather sad. I liked how McGonagall visited him in cat form! I like that he knows she's an Animagus. As well, I like how Dumbledore backed Snape up in insisting that he stay--that's actually a really funny sight in my mind. :)

You've done a really good job with this, it was a good read! :)
