Review #2, by In The Shadows I Dwell

22nd August 2010:
I often wonder what occurred down there. More so out of curiosity of whether the Horcrux really did try to manipulate her as it did Ron. I only say this because Hermione really had no actual connection with the Diadem and in the end, I doubt her simply carrying it for such a brief amount of time would have been enough for it to gain access to all her deepest fears, desires and secrets. However, that is simply one of the mysteries of the Horcrux and it's going to be a while before we know exactly what they are capable of. (I look forward to the day that we can!) However, despite my doubts I do love how you've included the way it was able to so easily bring out those things she feared, loved and hated most and turn them so easily against, her such as the locket did to Ron. It's particularly interesting that it took upon the form of Lavender Brown, although if not her it would have been someone similar I assume.

I love how you've stated that what occurred down there would be another secret to remain in the Chamber of Secrets, to me that was very clever and worked well, as many of the students still didn't know exactly what happened between Harry, the Basilisk and Ginny and it really tied in well with this! I really liked this one, keep up the great work!

Ooh I wrote a Ron/Hermione Chamber of Secrets story too, so it was interesting to see your take on it!

We both had lots of similar elements, and a few different ones too. I thought perhaps your Ron and Hermione could both be characterised better, but that's just my opinion since my Ron and Hermione aren't perfect either!

Good work! I loved the last line, it was a nice ending :)

Absolutely loved how the Horcrux tried to get into Hermione's head. And you picked the absolute perfect weak spot: Lavendar and Ron. That was painful to read. Well done!

I really liked this.

What a great idea, and a very well executed one, too.

"She's a pureblood and beautiful, while you're just a frizzy-haired, buck-toothed, know-it-all." plays up to Hermione's usually hidden insecurities so well and shows why Ron and Hermione are such a wonderful couple. They need each others support.
