This is absolutely wonderful, a missing moment that really should not have been missed in my opinion.
But you are such a tease:
Hermione (breathless and pale): "Was that it?"
Ron: "When I went to stab the locket, it kept talking to me, showing me things. It was awful."
Ron - Maybe she understood anyway.
Maybe it did speak to her somehow?
Not I want to know.

I really like this story. I also chose this moment for one of my one-shots but I have to say that yours was much more fleshed out. I didn't write about when they went in. You got the banter perfect, and I'm surpriesed you didn't make them fight haha...great job!

Why didn't I ever think to write this missing scene? Brilliant.

One huge drawback of the books was that they, at times, were entirely too Harry-POV-centric. Ron and Hermione's dissapearance in this portion of DH, I always found, was frustrating. You've definitely done this scene justice - very JKR -esque.

Here, it feels like Ron's POV - and you've got us all wondering if the Cup spoke to Hermione. I have this feeling it did. That was an excellent touch - as was the broom appearing just when Ron needed it. Room of Requirment is a great plot device. Otherwise you would've had to justify where the broom came from and that could've been a pain. LOL!

Great Work

Reading this again was still a joy.

I never really thought too much about what happened down the Chamber when Ron and Hermione went there to fetch the basilisk fang in DH. I think I just sort of accepted that it happened. And it wasn't until I read this that I realised just how much I wanted to know what did, indeed, happen.

What I loved most about this was the interaction between Ron and Hermione. The way they talk, the little things they do when they are conversing, it is all just so in character and something I could easily see taking place in the books themselves.

Really nice insight into a small, yet significant part of DH that I had not really considered before.
