It's so cruel, to lose her parents when she's still a child. I hate that that's how JK Rowling wrote it.

Bravo to you.

Oh poor Lily! Poor Petunia, poor everyone. :( Sorry that my reviews are getting so short and messy, probably with lots of typos. I'm falling asleep over here. But I can't stop reading this because it's to good. (:

Author's Response: LOL yeah, this is sort of an unhappy chapter, eh? I feel bad for Petunia in this one, too, and normally I hate the woman. I am glad that this story is interesting enough to keep you awake when you're probably dying to sleep!

Wow this was a long chapter but I loved it all the same.

Sirius was being a downright prat to Peter, I mean, they've all had a bad and hard day and they are not being rude at all. It seems as though some days Sirius just uses Peter as a scapgoat for his anger and annoyances. I mean, yeah, Peter is a little annoying but that doesn't mean one is allowed to be rude. Did I just stand up for Peter?.

It was so saddening the rest of it. You really felt Lily's pain at the loss of her parents and she went through some of the stages of grief which is great because most people in stories just skip them or feel nothing at all. Goodness, these kids just can't catch a break. And hopefully when the sun rises everything won't seem so bad.

Author's Response: I can't remember how long it is! Gah! But I do remember the content, at least. And you're right, Sirius IS a prat to Peter, and he always has been to some degree. He degrades Peter in a indirect way, and I don't think he means to; just in his haughty mind, he views himself and James as better (maybe Remus, too). So I won't defend him lol, you're completely right, and I think it's as it should be. But yeah! You defended Peter (I'm really happy about this). Peter is likeable! Admit it :)

I hate writing such scenes - reactions to deaths or other things. I'm always mildly worried that its overdone or too emo. Unfortunately, these scenes seem to pop up pretty often in this story. I guess, in war, that is to be expected. But I'm glad you enjoyed it.

heck no they can't catch a break! I'm trying to fit everything we know happened in canon into 3 short years!!! (not that it was ever said for fact that her parents died within these three years, but they had to have died before Lily did, or they could have taken Harry).

I loved it, I was feeling so sorry for Lily when she didn't realize what Lucy meant when she was trying to say about the phone but we all knew and it was nice of James to tell Petunia sorry even though what happened. :)

And I love the way you convey their emotions, you really get a feeling of how they feel, its really wonderful.

Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: hi Lizzie!

Aw, I'm glad you felt so bad for Lily. I hadn't even thought about it, but it must have been frustrating to sit here and know her parents are dead and wait for her to figure it out as well. That sort of thing would simply never occur to her.

James is a good guy! i'm glad you liked that part, I think it shows character, but you are the first to mention it!

Sometimes I worry that it gets a little TOO emo, but I'm glad you're enjoying all of their emotions and thoughts. They must have had thousands during the war!

Thank you so much for this wonderful review. I hope you come back for hte next chapter!

This is probably Lily's worst birthday ever. But at least she has James to help her through it. Are they going to get married soon? It must be 1979 by now, and Harry's going to be conceived in October if my math is right (which it should be).

Author's Response: Yep, it is January 30, 1979, to be exact. So within the next few months. I don't really want to say which chapter its going to be and ruin it for anyone, but it is coming up!

Review #7, by Moonylupin

Poor Lily. The irony at the beginning of this chapter was so horrible to read (though very well done). Lily's talking about how her parents are planning something for her birthday and I'm just sitting there thinking 'no...' Poor Lily! It was nice to see them happy and enjoying a simple dinner, getting to be normal for once, and thinking at the same time that that wasn't going to last because Lily had to find out soon.

Good to know Sirius healed pretty quickly. I'm with Sirius on not wanting to keep the piece of metal that hurt him. That's a kind of sick thing for Peter to suggest, even if he hadn't meant it to be that way. Seeing as Sirius could have been hurt a lot worse by it, I don't think he'd want it. The part where they were at dinner was nice to read. I especially like James's comment about Lily being Marauderish because she had tricked her parents into continuing to pay for her rent. What else could she do though? It's not like she could afford it.

I felt horrible for Lucy. It clearly hurt her a lot to tell Lily what happened. No one wants to have to tell someone that kind of news. The numbness you had Lily feel before she started crying - where she was thinking things like that didn't happen to people like her - was brilliant. You could really feel the disbelief in her. And when she said she had to go see her mom, that was so hard to read because she still had some hope that at least her mother was there. I wonder what's going to happen when Petunia and Lily finally talk.

Sirius is sweet, the birthday present and everything. Great chapter, I can't wait for the next!

Author's Response: Oh man, I HATED writing this chapter sooo much. It was so horrible and hard.

Ha, I'm glad you liked the irony though. That's like what the whole entire chapter is. It just never occurs to Lily even once that somebody in her family could be injured in such an incident, much less more than one person. But I'm glad you enjoyed the dinner. I was probably stalling, not wanting to write Lily finding out. But I agree, it's nice to let them sit down and chat for once. I haven't let them do that for several chapters now.

Yeah! Took Sirius all day, but still, it healed. Thats the good thing about magic, I suppose. LOL I didn't think it was too terrible of Peter to suggest he keep the metal - I've heard of people keeping items that have caused them serious injury before because a lot of times its so life-changing for them (unless you are magical, of course. Then you just heal with no problem!) but that piece of metal signified so much more than just an injury.

Lily definitely couldn't afford her rent on her own. It's not like everyone is as rich as James and Sirius are (and even Peter, in this story, with his inheritance). Remus and Lily both live rent free with the help of friends or family.

I'm glad you felt bad for Lucy. I sure hope I dont ever end up in that situation. I'm so ecstatic that you think that whole scene was done well. I had such a hard time with it. I didn't want it to be super emo and vulnerable Lily, but at the same time, it's kind of a big deal. I'm definitely glad she came off more as being in denial than anything, at least at first.

I do have some small plans for Lily and Petunia. Most of what happens between them will probably be quickly mentioned in the next chapter - but the next big "scene" for both of them is a long way off. But I know what I'm doing, I swear!

Sirius, sweet??? XD Maybe, but Lily got him a gift for his birthday! It was only fair that he return the favor.
