(stunned expression) i got this on random but it's awesome. the whole fact of snape being like 40 years older than hermoine did cross my mind breifly though good story
Author's Response: Actually, Severus Snape is only 19-20 years older than Hermione Granger. The date of his birth is January 9, 1959 or 1960, as per JK Rowling herself. (Reference: http://www.hp-lexicon.org/wizards/snape.html). Hermione Granger's date of birth is September 19, 1979. (Reference: http://www.hp-lexicon.org/timelines/timeline_hermione.html).
I would imagine that it is not unheard of for wizards to marry someone 20 years their senior/junior, as wizards tend to live longer than the average human being. (Reference Dumbledore's birthdate of c. 1840: http://www.hp-lexicon.org/wizards/dumbledore.html).
Being an owner of an HP fanfic site, something like this wouldn't cross my mind in the least, knowing the facts.
