I love this. I love the way you wrote it, the way the reader becomes Katie and really sympathises with her. It's a great pairing - her and Oliver - and I hadn't expected her to like McLaggen at all (or for her to be friends with Zabini, which I suppose isn't completely ridiculous considering the way you explained it).
I'll admit, the start was a little... not slow, exactly; I just didn't engage with all that Italy context and whatever. But then when it got into the date, it was great. Good flow and style and all that. And I like the switch of point of view; seething Oliver is oddly satisfying.
I bet I know what's going to happen, though.
